SafeData completed license audit in the company

On December 22, 2016 the ITERBI company declared the project of license reconciliation and the analysis of processes of SAM within the agreement of Microsoft SPLA for SafeData group.

Project Tasks

SafeData has the partner status Microsoft Silver Datacenter which confirms existence of the necessary rights and knowledge in design, implementation and support of DPC based on products of Microsoft. For delivery of cloud solutions signed on the SaaS SafeData model with Microsoft the license agreement Services Provider (SPLA).

The SPLA program allows the Microsoft partner to implement the Pay-as-you-go model, i.e. to pay use of software according to the consumed volume. Having signed the SPLA agreement, the partner company has the right to develop necessary for software of Microsoft and to render services to the clients on its basis. At the same time the payment for software is made monthly.

Licensing of products of Microsoft within the license agreement SPLA differs from usual licensing of corporate agreements therefore before the management of SafeData there were tasks of risks assessment of use of software of Microsoft during the rendering the services and assessment of internal processes of management of program assets.

The ITERBI company is attracted to the solution of these tasks.

Project Progress

The service is rendered within the Microsoft SAM Services program. In implementation process of the SAM project the assessment of license compliance, the legal analysis of documents is carried out, recommendations are developed.

SafeData uses products of Microsoft for providing IT services to end users and also for own needs within the license agreement SPLA. During the project more than 150 automated workstations and more than 100 servers are inspected. On the basis of documents, inventory of software and collected information on management processes of software, experts of ITERBI provided the detailed report including the detected risks, recommendations about their elimination and improvement of the existing IT processes.

For optimization of software, control of licenses and reduction of legal and financial risks, specialists of ITERBI provided the unrolled recommendations about improvement of the current IT processes and automation of accounting of use of software and licenses in real time.

Project Results

The uncommon task of license reconciliation and the analysis of processes of SAM within the agreement of Microsoft SPLA was set for us. It is the unusual program, and rules of licensing in it differ from usual corporate. The work which is carried out by our specialists allowed not only to optimize processes of SAM, but also to increase quality of the provided services to end users. The audit booked by ITERBI company allowed us to understand better all aspects of such document, difficult from the legal point of view, as SPLA the agreement with Microsoft, to understand parts of the arising tripartite relations when rendering cloud services according to the SaaS model, to accurately structure communication with clients and to reduce risks of unauthorized use of licenses in a cloud environment.
