2021: Implementation of facial recognition

On May 11, 2021, Krok announced the introduction of a facial recognition system in a shopping center in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

The project was implemented by order of the Center for Regional Digital Transformation of the Sakhalin Region. The main goal of the recognition system is to ensure security and provide law enforcement agencies with an additional tool in their operational work.

MegaBerezka shopping and entertainment center has 25 biometric video cameras and 22 surveillance cameras. To ensure that the quality of facial recognition is always high, CRIC IT specialists analyzed all the lines of control and selected the optimal solution for each of them, taking into account the architectural layout of the room, the characteristics of its lighting and the movement of people. The system is based on software products of Russian developers.

For the stable operation of the entire system, CRIC specialists organized communication lines, installed telecommunications equipment and introduced information security tools. In the server room of the shopping center, engineering equipment is installed, it provides fault tolerance of the face recognition system.

Equipping the shopping center is a continuation of a large-scale project to create a video identification system for individuals at the borders of control of the Sakhalin Region.
