Project date: 2021/06

In early July 2021, South Korean AI systems developer VUNO announced a partnership with Samsung Electronics, an international medical equipment company. Samsung intends to introduce an AI solution for X-ray diagnostics of chest diseases VUNO Med-Chest X-ray into the advanced digital X-ray system Samsung GM85. Such an AI-based X-ray machine will be able to automatically detect cancer, tuberculosis and pneumonia.

Samsung's digital X-ray systems begin to use instant detection technology for cancer, tuberculosis and pneumonia

Samsung GM85 premium mobile digital X-ray system with lightweight and ultra-compact design combines a wide range of advanced technologies, including fast charging and a battery with long life, which provide increased usability and high image quality. Using VUNO artificial intelligence, an integrated mobile X-ray machine will be able to instantly evaluate images while the patient is still in hospital. The developers believe that such a diagnostic tool will be extremely useful in emergency departments and intensive care.

Chest organ radiography with the VUNO Med-Chest AI solution allows you to instantly and accurately detect and mark suspicious image abnormalities that could potentially prove to be serious lung diseases such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, lung cancer. AI accounts for the five most common thoracic symptoms, such as nodules/formations, pneumothorax, interstitial haze, hemorrhage or effusion in the pleural cavity, and seals of unclear genesis. This AI solution has already been commercially implemented in Korea and Europe after receiving approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and CE labeling in August 2019 and June 2020, respectively.[1]
