Sberbank implemented the program of automation of risk management system

On December 9, 2016 Sberbank announced project completion of implementation of the all-bank program "Automation of Risk Management System in Financial Markets" (ASUR FR). The Sberbank of Technology company took part in the project of creation and implementation of technology components of the program.

Project Tasks

In 2012 acquired bank Troika Dialog. The adopted business plan of the joint corporate and investment business meant significant growth as in terms of volumes, and a product line that demanded development of essentially new approach to risk management. Automation became an important component of approach - it was talked of tools with difficult models of calculation of the price also risk metrics, of the business operating in real time. Such risk infrastructure was not neither at Sberbank, nor at Troika Dialog at that time. The strategic IT program "Automation of Risk Management System in Financial Markets" (ASUR FR) was open for its creation at the end of 2011.

The senior managing director — the director of the department of risks of CIB Dzhangir Dzhangirov acted as the customer of the program, the managing director, the chief of the center risk technologies of CIB Semyon Alperin is appointed the program manager. Supervised the program — the vice chairman of the board of Sberbank Vadim Kulik^[1].

Within the program the IT platform including IT systems and modules which allow to manage different types of risks, first of all — credit and market risks is created. The platform is created using technologies of distributed computing (GridGain), not relational databases (MongoDB, Cassandra and so forth) and other modern technologies.

The systems of such class are available only in the largest world banks, in Russia nobody solved such problem and even put. Successful program implementation of ASUR FR and that synergy which we as a result received were reached thanks to close work in the mode of permanent interaction between customers from business and IT. Project Results

90% of components of the platform were developed by Sberbank of Technology company. IT systems of the platform are used by all group Sberbank: 15 subsidiary banks and 14 territorial banks and also employees business and risk divisions, services of finance and others. According to representatives of Sberbank, "they allow to develop the most complex business of global markets, keeping the level of the accepted risks under control".

Systems use more than 1 thousand users.
