2021: Connecting 500,000 trucks to Scania FMS

500 thousand Scania trucks around the world are connected to the Scania FMS fleet management system. The company announced this on August 16, 2021.

More than a decade ago, Scania became a manufacturer of trucks, which introduced a communication device as a standard for all transport means. This allowed customers to increase the productivity of their transportation, and Scania to collect scientific data information about the use of products and analyze schemes. logistics

The first truck was connected to the Scania FMS (Fleet Management System) system about 20 years ago - it was then that its tests began, and a special portal for this system was launched in 2009. The next significant milestone was 2014, when the number of vehicles connected to FMS in the world reached 100 thousand. Since then, their number has grown by almost 60 thousand each year and by August 2021 exceeded half a million. Since 2019, it has also become possible to connect to the Scania industrial and ship engine system.

In Russia, Scania FMS appeared in 2012. Annually, more than 90% of the equipment sold in the country is connected to this system, and, according to data at the end of the second quarter of 2021, the total number in the Russian Federation reached 38,242 connected trucks.

In order to start using the system installed at the factory, the owner of the car signs a contract, after which Scania can process vehicle data. A batch monitoring solution is provided free of charge, allowing you to access the fleet management portal and the Fleet App application, where customers receive reports with key indicators on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.

Control or Control + packages provide a complete set of data and updates information online. You can sort, filter, and report on analysis results. The owners of mixed fleets are addressed to the decisions "Data. Geolocation and Data. Efficiency, "designed to integrate Scania indicators into other systems through IPserver-, as well as into your own database customers, for example,. 1C In addition, in the spring of 2021, the Driver Assessment service became available in a separate package, which, along with the performance of driver personnel, includes a flexible maintenance plan Scania Flex. This package is 25% cheaper than Control with a full set of data from FMS.

As of August 2021, Scania is developing additional equipment - special sensors for trailed vehicles. This will allow data from trailers to be obtained and integrated into the overall telematics system. The company's goals are to create a large-scale comprehensive ecosystem so that the owner receives the maximum data to assess the condition and operating conditions of the equipment.
