2024: Introduction of robotic dump trucks

"Digital" completed the project of introducing robotic dump trucks in Khakassia. The company announced this on January 31, 2025.

A 20% increase in productivity was confirmed. During 9 months of unmanned export of overburden rock during pilot operation of the automated cargo transportation system (ASGP) at the Izykhsky coal mine in Khakassia, a robotic complex based on two BELAZ dump trucks 7513R a carrying capacity of 130 tons repeatedly demonstrated performance with exceeding the shift production rate for drivers up to 20%. The operation of the complex continues.

The creation of an experimental robotic complex based on our technologies for the first time in the EAEU started back in 2018 at the Abakansky open pit, and a year later the complex demonstrated a full cycle of rolling away rock mass without dump truck drivers throughout the shift. At the final tests in March 2020, the complex for the first time achieved an excess of the shift norm by 20%. Taking into account the development of mining operations, the complex was moved to the Izykhsky section, where we were tasked with adapting to a new site, long continuous production and the most difficult - repeated excess of the production rate. We have successfully solved these problems, - said Dmitry Sizemov, technical director of Zyfra Robotics.

The development of Zyfras provides the operator of the robotic complex with all the necessary set of tools for planning the route of movement and adjacent zones, determining the operating modes of autonomous dump trucks and monitoring the current production situation: performance dynamics, performance, technical condition. Autonomous dump trucks under the control of the developed system without the participation of the driver alternately perform the planned elements of the transport cycle with constant updating of the loading and unloading points, independently monitor the safety of the environment, work out oncoming trips and organize themselves in line when waiting.

Yesterday's driver of a mine dump truck after retraining becomes an operator who from the control center monitors the operation of the complex and adjusts its parameters. With the use of ASGP, the resources of one person become enough for the full operation of several dump trucks - labor productivity increases by 3-5 times.

In the course of the project on the Izykhsky section, the Figures team worked out and put into operation automatic tools: countering the formation of gauge, increasing the service interval of technological roads by 2-3 times, as well as optimizing the waiting time for loading by using zones close to the excavator. The level of traffic safety provided today by the ASGP provides admission to the site of the robotic complex of household transport and special equipment without stopping work.

{{quote 'We expect that the completion of the project at Izykhsky will become a catalyst for career robotization Russia in. Acceleration with the introduction of autonomous technologies the Russian mining industry is necessary, and not so much for the development of Russian technologies at the level of advanced mining countries, but to a greater extent - to maintain the pace of economic development in conditions of a shortage of specialists. In January 2025, in the country's quarries, a significant part of human labor falls on the management of equipment. At the same time, more than 70% of our customers in mining over the past 2 years, among the main development problems, there is a shortage of personnel. The shortage is especially acute in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, where the largest mineral deposits are located. We do not see any other alternatives to unmanned technologies to solve the personnel problem, increase productivity and sustainability in mining. In addition, their implementation will allow to remove people from dangerous production, which is also one of the priority tasks for the development of the mining industry, - commented on the importance of the project, the head of the Zyfra Group of Companies Mikhail Aronson. }}

It is expected that in the near future more career robots will appear in Russia and the EAEU, primarily for technological transport and drilling.
