2020: Opening of the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Montreal
December 15, 2020 Servier International Pharmaceutical Company announced the opening of the Center artificial intelligence in, the Monreale partner acted. Centech
According to the company, the Center for Artificial Intelligence is being created as part of the Servier group's digital transformation project: the company is convinced that digitalization will become its main activity, and the role of artificial intelligence in meeting the needs of patients and the work of organizations in the healthcare sector will constantly grow.
The opening Center will become an international unit of the Servier group, specializing in artificial intelligence. It will be created in conjunction with the Centech business incubator based on the Collision Lab platform and will become the basis for the formation of a single data team to develop artificial intelligence initiatives.
The Servier Artificial Intelligence Center will specialize in research projects in the field of pharmaceuticals. The existing Centech ecosystem and its expertise in artificial intelligence-based medical technologies and solutions will accelerate the discovery, development, and implementation of therapeutic solutions for patients.
The tasks of the Center will primarily include organizing, developing and supporting interaction between participants in the local ecosystem and international research divisions of Servier. In addition, the Center will accelerate the introduction of artificial intelligence tools into the research activities of the Servier group, as well as ensure the establishment of links with Canadian and American bodies for monitoring artificial intelligence activities. In addition, the Centre for Artificial Intelligence will be responsible for the presence of Servier in the Montreal ecosystem and for the collection and intelligent processing of business data.
The creation of the Center is a significant investment of Servier: by 2022, the volume of investments can reach $3 million, including financing transactions to create partnerships and joint development with local startups, as well as the possible involvement of experts.
The dynamism, breadth of coverage, accessibility of the Montreal ecosystem convinced Servier of the choice of Canada, in particular the province of Quebec, as the site for the creation of its first Center for Artificial Intelligence.
This Centre, established at the heart of the ecosystem, will explore technologies that will help optimize the Group's performance in all areas of its work and serve as a confirmation of commitment to therapeutic progress for the benefit of patients. The formation of a working group on artificial intelligence and the creation of the Center are evidence of the seriousness of Servier's intentions in this area. stated Virginie Dominguez, Director of Digital Technology, Servier Group |
To create the Center for Artificial Intelligence, Servier chose Centech, a business incubator. Centech will be able to support the development of artificial intelligence solutions, promoting competition between private and academic organizations. The business incubator provides a platform for enterprises with potential in the field of health care and medical technologies, as well as enterprises operating in the digital solutions sector. For Centech, such a partnership corresponds to a strategy for the development of open technologies for large companies wishing to participate in the development of technology projects, especially using artificial intelligence.
