Why to Skoltech the DPC?

In the summer of 2015 the group "Asteros" designed and constructed modern data processing center (DPC) forSkolkovo institute of science and technologies. The project is implemented using the Russian and foreign equipment on the minimum square at the maximum power of the created technology platform.

In addition to fundamental and applied education the Skolkovo institute of science and technologies (Skoltech) as a part of an ecosystem of the Innovation center "Skolkovo", pays attention to development of qualitative researches, the solution of key scientific and technology tasks and also generation of inflow of innovations to the Russian economy. Daily in Skoltech difficult and resource-intensive tasks of algorithmization, programming and video analytics are carried out. For ensuring reliable and failsafe functioning of IT infrastructure of the university specialists of Asteros designed and constructed a hi-tech data processing center taking into account requirements of international standard TIA-942 here.

"We were faced by an uncommon task – to create DPC of the maximum power with all necessary engineering infrastructure and the high quality equipment, but at the same time on rather modest squares, in total about 90 sq.m, – Alexander Maykov, the chief project engineer, the Asteros group notes. – For this purpose we designed the high density solution based on the equipment of APC which allowed to provide the installed capacity of DPC in 550 kW".

In general, for Skoltech experts of Asteros developed about 8 project solutions: a choice was made in advantage a mix platform, created based on the Russian and foreign equipment. Two premises were used for data center. In the first, of 72 sq.m, twenty two 42U communication are located are resistant, internal blocks of conditioners and an electrodistribution equipment. Here the closed hot corridor which allows to take away effectively heat at high loads is created. In the second (16.8 sq.m) rechargeable batteries, uninterruptible power supply unit and electric equipment are installed.

Within the project 7 engineering systems which provide, including, ventilation and conditioning, security video surveillance, monitoring, automatic system of scheduling and controls of the equipment are implemented. Modern power supply systems, an electric lighting and also the installed power electric equipment guarantee reliable and smooth operation of DPC of Skoltech. The security system is designed and implemented using the equipment of the Russian producer "Bolid": in DPC the systems of automatic gas fire fighting, control and access control are unrolled. The efficiency of the created technology platform is maintained by a structured cabling system based on the modern equipment of Systimax company.

"Skoltech is the innovation environment created by a join path of research and educational processes for the solution of a broad spectrum of problems of scientific, engineering and innovation areas. In infrastructure of university huge data arrays, a part from which, perhaps, will become a basis for disruptive innovations, are stored and processed. With its help we consolidated computing resources, centralized management of IT infrastructure, increased its reliability, power and fault tolerance.
