Softlogic. Eureka in Plekhanov Russian University of Economics

The Softlogic company completed the project on the implementing solution Softlogic. Eureka - management of educational process - in Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. The main requirements which were imposed to a new system:

• preserving of the existing methods of business process automation of higher education institution;
• preserving of the existing database structure;
• ensuring safety of the available data on students and listeners (about 40 thousand persons) and their transfer in a new system;
• system implementation should not entail a stop in work of the main divisions providing educational process.

Within the project it was required to expand and configure functionality of the module of automation of holding a receiving campaign of higher education institution. For project implementation it was decided to use the hardware and software system Softlogic. Eureka, being the most suitable for creation of end-to-end systems of management of educational institution. This product has a broad spectrum of means of flexible configuration and modification. Within accomplishment of an assigned task the following modules were finished and prepared for implementation:

• module of management of a receiving campaign,
• module of management of the contingent of students and listeners,
• module of management of curricula,
• module of control automation by the hostel,
• planning module of the schedule and accounting of teaching loading,
• the module of management of educational process, including the current and final progress.

Thanks to the technology platform developed by Softlogic company activity of the University managed to perform complete system implementation without stopping. "For us as for the system provider of management it was unique transaction. It was necessary to carry out data transfer and system testing out of working time when users do not make change. Transition to a new system was going to be carried out to the weekend so that since Monday users could get to work in a new system" - the manager of projects of Softlogic company Andrey Prokofiev says.

Works on implementation were carried out in several steps:

• collecting and data analysis about the existing organization of work of higher education institution,
• deployment of a test server of the AIS on which the main modules were implemented and tested,
• complete copying of data from the existing system,
• Softlogic deployment. Eureka on primary servers of REU and shutdown of the old AIS.

As a result of the carried-out works on system implementation a receiving campaign of 2011 it was carried out using Softlogic. Eureka. The module of management of a receiving campaign was finished according to the existing requirements and the recommendations of superior organizations. During the receiving campaign load of a system sharply increased that led to significant increase in number of users. In hours of peak load a system processed about 1 million requests per hour. Thanks to technological capabilities of the platform on scaling for the period of the receiving campaign additional application servers which allowed to process such amount of requests were deployed. Similar technological capabilities allow to guarantee fault tolerance of a system practically at any not linear increase of loading.
