In lobbies of stations of the St. Petersburg subway will install video cameras with function of automatic recognition of people by biometric parameters of the person in a passenger traffic. Equipment of stations the automated information retrieval system is planned in 2013.

Intelligent video cameras will monitor passengers at 19 stations of the St. Petersburg subway. Television cameras will be placed in the curbstones set behind an entrance line of tourniquets. According to technical specifications, a system should provide the probability of automatic detecting of persons of the people who got to a control zone – 0.98 and also the probability of automatic recognition of the person on the selected images of persons in a passenger traffic of people of rather reference photos entered in the database – 0.92.

As the customer of development of the work documentation on equipment of entrance zones of lobbies of stations of the subway an intelligent system of video surveillance the committee on transport acts. The starting price of the contract is 14 million rubles. Summing up tender will take place on October 24, 2012.

The Ladozhskaya station will act as a pilot project on equipment of the St. Petersburg subway as the systems of "intellectual video surveillance", reported in October, 2012 in administration of the Northern Capital. "A system will allow to distinguish the person by biometric parameters at the certain metro station. Implementation of a pilot project of equipment by such system of the Ladoga metro station at the expense of budget funds of St. Petersburg is planned. For accomplishment of these works government contracts are concluded, execution of works comes to the end now", - the Acting Chairman of the Committee on transport and transit policy of the city Alexey Yevstigneyev reported.

At the same time complete equipment of the St. Petersburg subway normal video surveillance should come to the end in the nearest future. Yevstigneyev added that already now all stations of the St. Petersburg subway are equipped with manual metaldetectors, portable detectors of vapors of explosives. Also almost everywhere there are figurative X-rays and thermovision complexes.

The chairman of the profile commission on a transport complex of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg Alexey Palin in return reported at a press conference that the intelligent system will allow to distinguish crime fugitives and to trace a trajectory of their movement.
