China Mobile and Huawei completed a pilot project of Liquid OTN for network of the subway in Qingdao

2020: Implementing solution Liquid OTN

On July 6, 2020 the Huawei company announced end of a pilot project of Liquid OTN, joint with China Mobile, for network of the subway in Qingdao provinces of Shandu. The solution showed convincing opportunities for creation of networks - the simplified architecture, universal completely optical connection, a low delay and a possibility of setup of bandwidth without failures. At the same time the cost of Liquid OTN appeared less than other solutions therefore the technology becomes available not only to the big companies, but also medium-sized and small enterprises.

As noted in Huawei, being the base of digital economy, completely optical networks will cover more and more industries. In December, 2019 the Chinese association of standards of communication (CCSA) approved investments into the OTN standard of the next generation. In February, 2020 China Mobile and Huawei completed a pilot project of Liquid OTN for network of the subway in Qingdao of the province of Shandu.

Video transmission. A combination of the growing speeds, reduction of prices and the increasing prevalence of gigabit broadband communication cloud virtual reality will lead to large-scale commercial application of immersive and interactive videos of services, such as. To provide high-quality client experience, Huawei developed completely optical solution for transfer and access of OLT + OTN. Using Liquid OTN, the solution provides channels to a cloud for users of VR. High capacity, a low delay and zero loss of packets support wide commercial application of cloud VR.

Data transmission on 5G networks: commercial 5G networks are under construction worldwide. In comparison with 4G, the 5G offers high speeds, universal connections and an ultralow delay, facilitating construction of completely connected world. The solution IP+Optical transmission of Huawei company is used by Liquid OTN for maintenance of slices both on optical, and on electric levels. Soft pipe and hard pipe technologies adapt to different types of services and required granularity and support the differentiated agreements on the service level (SLA), stimulating development of solutions and services based on a 5G.

In the future Huawei will continue to conduct activities for the optical transport solution Liquid OTN and to offer available dedicated lines for each industry, helping operators to increase the value of their business and to contribute to the development of completely optical network ecosystem.
