The Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation virtualizes data, resources, infrastructure

The Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation in partnership with VMware company carried out upgrade of IT resources, project participants reported on December 26, 2012.

Background

At the customer a large number of the servers working for the sake of one, not highly loaded service was installed earlier. The available resources in the company were used irrationally. Information infrastructure did not correspond to current trends in the field of the organization of work of DPCs. Implementation of new resources in DPC usually resulted in need of a stop of work of services, and the implemented hardware resources turned out isolated.

Objectives

The project objective consisted in creation of the infrastructure which is effectively using resources - with the high availability capable timely and effectively to react to requirements of the organization, providing necessary capacities for the solution of assigned tasks. In legacy infrastructure implementation of new technologies - process difficult therefore optimization of the available resources in combination with ease and simplicity of implementation new was required. For permission of assigned tasks solutions of VMware company are selected.

Project

Solutions were implemented consistently: in the beginning the free version of a hypervisor of ESXi 4 is set, then the commercial license is activated and the server of management vCenter Server is installed. Further infrastructure was updated on the fifth version of ESXi and vCenter Server.

According to partners in the project, for December 26, 2012 a system is replicated on 113 departments of the arbitration courts working at the territory of the Russian Federation. In the organization, about 500 people in VAS and up to 16 thousand across Russia work with the data virtualized by VMware.
