Swisscom created the Enterprise Service Cloud platform based on solutions of VMware

The VMware company in January, 2018 announced that the Swiss provider telecommunication and IT services of Swisscom constructed a cloud of Enterprise Service Cloud based on infrastructure and management tools of VMware. Cooperation with VMware allowed Swisscom to accelerate an output of this service to the market. Thanks to the platform the company can diversify cloud services and implement possibilities of further growth, and her customers purchase the protected high-performance solution for a hybrid cloud which allows to accelerate business digitalization.

Solutions at the heart of a cloud

Enterprise Service Cloud uses VMware vRealize Suite for infrastructure management and application services, VMware NSX for work with network and security systems and also VMware vSphere for calculations started on the Dell EMC VxBlock systems. Customers of Enterprise Service Cloud will be able to work with already familiar tools of VMware for the unified management of private, public and hybrid clouds.

Project Progress

Swisscom originally developed own technology for a cloud computing architecture, and then addressed VMware and Dell EMC as to the strategic partners, for the help in creation of a cloud platform. vRealize Suite provided automation and simpler performance management, the capacity of a cloud and correction of malfunctions — it allowed to accelerate deployment and start of service. Thanks to this approach Swisscom could focus on the solution of more important tasks again, than creation of cloud infrastructure — on development of the innovation functions and services for customers.

After a tendency to implementation of the Swisscom multicloud environments added to the portfolio of cloud services global offers from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Thus, the corporate customers who selected Swisscom as permanent provider of services will have a choice opportunity from the wide range of services of a public cloud (based on VMware, AWS and Azure).

Project Results

Cooperation with VMware and start of Enterprise Service Cloud allowed us to offer customers multicloud model.
