On September 1, 2014 Tape implemented Oracle HyperionPlanning CORUS Consulting company.
Choosing a Solution
During dynamic growth of the business happening in the conditions of the amplifying competition the company management Lenta needed effective processes and tools for annual budget planning, obtaining the regular management reporting and the analysis of planned and actual targets of activity. By the end of 2011 the chief financial officer of Lenta company Yakho Lemmens made the decision on the beginning of the project on improvement of processes of budget management. The project was supported by shareholders and all company executives. The management of Tape set the following tasks for the project:
- Create coherent planning processes – from initiation of budgets on the basis of target indicators of model "from top to down" before collecting and approval of budgets "from below-up";
- Provide reliability and coordination of all plans: from sales plans in shopping complexes to income and expenditure budgets on all aspects of activity of the company;
- Involve in planning processes of employees at all levels which are responsible for accomplishment of target indicators;
- Reduce labor costs and increase the speed of planning processes, the reporting and analysis;
- Integrate the system of budget management with the top-down model and the corporate data warehouse on the basis of SAP BW.
Based on the held competition at the choice of the contractor on the project, for the solution of the sounded tasks the Lenta company selected the offer of CORUS Consulting Group. As a software platform for automation of budget management the customer selected Oracle Hyperion Planning. For formalization of future processes of budget planning the customer strengthened a project team consultants of one of the companies of Big Four.
Result
On accomplishment of all works of the project, from formalization of methodology before implementation of an automated system, the project team needed 7 months. Having begun the project in February, 2012, by October, 2012 over 150 users were connected to an automated system of budgeting. Before transition to commercial operation, a system was tested by key users, and end users were trained in new practicians of planning and work in a new budgeting system. In November in a system earned all divisions and hypermarkets of Tape.

"Based on almost two years' use of the implemented system it is possible to tell with confidence that the Lenta company managed to achieve project effective objectives. In particular, it was succeeded to create the consecutive planning process of sales providing uniform understanding of indicators of sales from all responsible services. We integrated sales plan indicators with indicators of adjacent blocks – including with plans of opening, with expenditure budgets of shopping complexes, plans of supply chains and other blocks that allowed to plan results of our activity precisely. And it is especially important that now, thanks to opportunities of a new system, we involved much more wide range of managers in planning processes, having increased level of responsibility for accomplishment of target indicators", – Yakho Lemmens sums up the results.
