Sibur is switching to polymer pallets with RFID for the widespread introduction of warehouse robots

Customers: Sibur Holding, PJSC

Moscow; Chemical industry

Contractors: Comitas (Komitas)

Project date: 2025/09

On September 9, 2025, one of the largest integrated oil and gas chemical companies in Russia, Sibur, and the full-cycle system integrator in the field of warehouse and production logistics, Comitas, announced the signing of a cooperation agreement. We are talking about the development of domestic automation and robotization systems using containers based on synthetic materials.

As part of the cooperation, Komitas plans to develop solutions involving the use of polymer pallets. At the same time, Sibur will provide expert support based on the company's experience in using such pallets at its own enterprises, as well as the experience of partners. In addition, Sibur will be responsible for the supply of the required volumes of polymer raw materials - polypropylene.

Polymer pallets, as noted, are the best solution in terms of compatibility with warehouse automation and logistics equipment. Such products have resistance to temperature differences and moisture, as well as mechanical strength. The polymer pallets exactly meet the specified geometric parameters and can be integrated with RFID technologies for automatic identification.

Compared to traditional wooden counterparts, polymer products are about 60% lighter, thereby saving fuel during cargo transportation. Plus, recycling is possible, which helps to reduce the carbon footprint. Polymer containers can withstand static loads up to 5 tons, dynamic loads up to 2.5 tons and up to 1.2 tons of mass on racks.

Polymer pallets most of all meet the requirements for containers with which automated warehouse equipment works: weight and size stability, lack of chips and nails, resistance to moisture and temperature drops, compatibility with automated accounting systems based on RFID technologies for tracking and collecting statistics, - says Yulia Rumyantseva, director of the Rigid Packaging division of Sibur.[1]
