Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile, Telefonica use a blockchain for roaming. Promise subscribers discounts

In the middle of February, 2020 Deutsche Telekom announced that it together with three other telecommunication companies begins use a solution blockchain for roaming which will allow to make and sign interoperator agreements on discounts.
T-Mobile of US, Telefonica, Orange and GSMA are engaged in the project Deutsche Telekom. Each of these companies signed a number of agreements on roaming with other operators, and the solution blockchain allows to estimate the current terms of the contract, excluding at the same time a possibility of fraud.
The solution combines the legal base, management model and integration with IT infrastructure. The innovation division of Deutsche Telekom T-Labs and Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier was engaged in development of a blockchain platform of this kind. In the subsequent they are going to provide the project in open access.
Our new solution is scalable, allowing it is easy to adapt a system to IoT devices and new business requirements in the future. Disputes and financial losses will be minimized — representatives of T-Labs claim. |
The platform is focused on legal agreements of operators, but not on more difficult settlement process. In the subsequent the companies can expand functionality a solution blockchain, but consider legal agreements an important starting point.
Besides, Deutsche Telekom and Telefonica work over one more blockchain project on setup of payments between operators. This solution is developed by Clear startup, and both telecommunication giants announced the beginning of the first stage of financing. Also it should be noted that Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica and Orange are members of the Blockchain Network created in June, 2019. They develop a new blockchain transaction and a payment system between different operators.[1]
