Content

On March 20, 2015 it became known of the project of restructuring of a server framework in Public institution "Territorial fund of compulsory health insurance of Primorsky Krai". Integrator in the project the Accent Restructuring company[1].

Project Tasks

Specialists of the Accent company were faced by a task - to increase performance and fault tolerance of the operating system, to provide continuous access of users to Internet services of fund.

The customer imposed technical requirements to infrastructure:

  • optimal performance and fault tolerance;

  • scalability;

  • transparency of resource management;

  • auto disconnect of the server hardware at interruptions in power supply.

Proceeding from the set requirements engineers of the Accent company made the decision on creation of failsafe virtual cluster system on the platform of the equipment of IBM and VMware. Project implementation, according to technical specifications, is carried out in two steps.

At the first stage the complete server solution constructed based on a blade server of IBM BladeCenter, a storage system from IBM and the system of virtualization of VMware is designed and implemented. After installation of the new equipment migration of the functioning IT systems of fund on the created virtual cluster system is carried out.

The second stage of the project the cluster system installation of additional computing edges in a blade system and increase in volumes of a storage system is expanded.

Connection of external systems of data storage is implemented via optical interface via two SAN switches installed on IBM BladeCenter. For achievement of optimal performance, fault tolerance and according to requirements of the customer each DWH is connected at the same time to two switches.

Project Results

Use of the software of APC Network Shutdown provides automatic switching off of a system of virtualization and the server systems of IBM. In case of shutdown of power supply, a system automatically switches off virtual machines and physical servers, then switches off uninterruptible power supply units. Management of the UPS is implemented by the specialized solution for VMware from IBM company.
