At the beginning of December, 2019 the U.S. Air Force ordered development of a blockchain which will not allow espionage chips to get into the military equipment.
Article published by Bloomberg as which affirms that on some computer payments of production Super Micro the additional microchip which was allegedly allowing malefactors to create the hidden input in any network was installed became a reason for this project, apparently. Authors of article did not disclose the sources, and some of the mentioned companies released denials. Other media criticized article, but Bloomberg claims that all data are obtained from reliable sources.
Anyway, the U.S. Department of Defense signed at least two contracts for fight against similar manipulations. One of them was imprisoned in June - the U.S. Air Force provided $3.2 million MacAulay Brown company for development of the reliable solution intended for production of electronic components of computer payments. In December the U.S. Air Force with the same purpose transferred $7.6 million to Florida consortium iCAMR which is engaged in production of intelligent sensors and chips.
The pilot project on production of reliable semiconductors consists in development of "the safe digital double" for production of semiconductors with use a blockchain systems which will provide transparency of transactions and traceability of components.
The concept "digital double" probably belongs to record of a blockchain or characteristic design of the chip. A new system should provide to the U.S. Air Force data on origin of the chips and sensors used in defense installations. The design of the chip which arrived to the production site should match with we imyushchitsya in a blockchain system by a sample.
The pilot project will be supervised the consortium iCAMR which was located at the University of the Central Florida. It is expected that the project will be completely unrolled by September, 2022.[1]
