The University of Oxford entrusted Fortinet protection network

The Russian representative office the company Fortinet reported that the University of Oxford (England) bought products of the company for a comprehensive protection of network resources of several divisions. The new equipment was installed in seven world famous colleges which are a part of the university, the Eshmolovsky museum and the Central department business of projects. The solution on protection is constructed on models of several product lines of Fortinet. In particular, multi-function printers for protection of network FortiGate- 3016B, FortiAnalyzer- 400B for monitoring and audit of important network segments and FortiDB – devices for protection of critical databases by means of the analysis of vulnerabilities and control of activity were used.

When there was a need for performance improvement of the firewall separating six virtual networks was decided to replace the solution Cisco existing at that time with the FortiGate-3016B device and to distribute gigabit traffic of each virtual network on certain physical ports. The interest of the Central department business of projects which works at the university was motivated on Fortinet purchase with need of protection of databases. "We purchased the FortiDB device for carrying out large-scale audit of all our databases regarding vulnerabilities, – John Toone, the database manager of department says. – Afterwards we had a need of control and audit of transactions for a financial system of Oracle. The specialized solution for control and audit from the company Oracle too expensive for us therefore we made our investments in the product FortiDB and were very pleased with results".

The FortiGate-3016B device is an ideal choice for protection of networks of educational institutions with need of differentiation of different segments the firewall.
