The computer system of the joint Kazakhstan-Italian enterprise GAS KCO is upgraded

T-Platforms company, the developer of supercomputers and the supplier of a full range of solutions and services for high-performance computing, announced project completion on upgrade of the computer system of the joint Kazakhstan-Italian enterprise GAS KCO (Almaty, Kazakhstan) - one of the largest regional service providers on 2D/3D - processing and interpretation of seismic data. Capacity of the supercomputer developed by T-Platforms company increased up to 2.55 Tflops that allowed it to be in the top three the most powerful computer systems installed in Kazakhstan.

Around the world when processing geologic-geophysical information methods of computer simulation and management of data bulks are applied. Existence of powerful computing resources became a crucial element of competitiveness of modern service companies and powerful advantage with participation in tenders. Supercomputers are used also for the solution of difficult tasks of creation of the geological models as close as possible to the real structure of structural bodies under the Earth's surface. Eventually, use of powerful computing systems allows to reduce the risks accompanying search of oil and gas fields that significantly reduces cost value of hydrocarbon production.

The GAS KCO company has experience in area of processing and interpretation of geophysical data. The technology basis of its business is formed by the high-performance computer system constructed within implementation of the global project on development of an oil and gas sector in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Now GAS KCO executes a number of projects on 3D processing of seismic data and carries out engineering and geophysical works in the project of mastering of the oil and gas Kashagan Field, strategic for Kazakhstan, on the shelf of the Caspian Sea. The complex of works on upgrade of the cluster GAS KCO supercomputer was executed by SmartCom company – the partner T-Platforms in the territory of Kazakhstan.
