The new platform will function based on blockchain technology, allowing to create digital certificates of vaccination which will serve as the proof for those who underwent vaccination against a coronavirus. First of all to the project it is going to connect priority groups, i.e. elderly people. The first stage of the project assumes creation of the digital "yellow card of vaccination" which will be used around the world after vaccination start. The card will allow to perform the international data exchange about vaccination, and the blockchain technology will provide reliability and transparency. At first the solution will be started in Estonia, and then is going to distribute it to other EU countries.

Ratas also confirmed that project participants will work on implementing solution X-Road for cross-border exchange of medical data that will allow WHO and to other EU member states effectively to use new technologies, exchanging important information.[1]
