2021: Installation plan for 300 cash registers

Magnit announced on October 7, 2021 that it would install transformers in stores.

The retail network replicates the solution to improve the quality of service and reduce the burden on staff. At the first stage, 300 cash registers will appear in almost 130 stores "at home" and "Magnit Cosmetics": from the south of Russia to the Arctic. The outlets that entered the start-up circuit of the project are characterized by high customer traffic and a significant share of cashless payments.

Cash registers-transformers differ from ordinary self-service cash registers (CSR) in that they work in two modes: as devices for independent payment and as familiar cash registers with an employee. They allow you to choose the optimal option for conducting transactions depending on the staff load and divide customer flows by the volume of the basket.

When testing cash registers on a pool of stores, a decrease in queues by 13% was recorded, and the level of conversion of customer traffic reached 40%.

Equipping stores with cash registers of the latest generation will be phased. The company will refine the buying path in trading rooms in order to organize a convenient zone for completing purchases at hybrid CSR, work on improving the ergonomics of equipment, as well as create motivation programs for employees to popularize such equipment among customers.

In total, about 1,750 cash desks of familiar self-service cash desks have been installed in Magnit stores of different formats. The company has been developing this service tool since 2014. According to the retail chain, consumers who prefer independent purchase are on average almost 1.5 times more likely to visit a retail outlet. The main users are women from 20 to 40 years old and men from 25 to 40 years old. In stores where CSR are installed, an increase in staff productivity by 4%, a decrease in queues by 20% are recorded. In addition, the check for buyers who prefer CSR is 10% higher than the average check.
