2019: Installation of an auto pilot and projective system with AR in the Toyota LQ concept car

On October 14, 2019 the Panasonic company reported that the systems of completely automatic parking (ADAS of the 4th level, reduction from engl. Advanced Driver Assistance System) and projective indication on a windshield with elements of augmented reality from Panasonic will be set in the Toyota LQ concept car.

The auto pilot valet is designed to exempt drivers from a stress and to save time which they regularly spend on search of the place on the loaded parking and a long way on foot of to the car.

The technology of Panasonic will allow to compensate possible trembling and mistiming

As noted in Panasonic, to send the car to the parking and it will be possible to give a signal on return from the mobile phone or the tablet. At the movement the auto pilot will constantly analyze a set of the data arriving from the built-in cameras, sonars and radars, comparing images of the surrounding area to the internal 2D card. The concept car will also be able to be connected to a management system (video surveillance) for the parking to specify existence and arrangement of empty seats and in time "see" the approaching pedestrians. The emergency brake system will help avoid collision with them and other machines. It is important that the auto pilot will be able to be parked even in the most limited space (from 20 cm from the next wall or the car), he unlike the driver will not need to open a door to go out of the car.

On a windshield of the LQ concept car the projection of the hi-res picture with elements of augmented reality will be placed

On a windshield of the LQ concept car the projection of the hi-res picture with elements of augmented reality created using optical technologies of Panasonic will be placed. Except a basic information about the car and a route hints and important notifications – for example about the pedestrian who is going to jump out for the road, or roughnesses of asphalt will be displayed here. The driver should not switch constantly a look between a panel and the road as it occurs in normal cars. The projection will cover distance from 7 to 41 m before the car.

According to the statement of Panasonic, developers could achieve very fine registration of a projection and a real picture, sozdavav feeling of depth. And the patent technology of Panasonic will allow to compensate possible trembling and mistiming which would be inevitable at the movement of the car on however that was a plain surface. It, according to Panasonic, will significantly facilitate navigation and space orientation of the driver, especially in unfamiliar places or on roads with intense traffic.
