MTS and Nokia unrolled the selected network of a 5G-ready on UEC Perm Motors

2020: Implementation of the selected network of a 5G-ready

On September 18, 2020 it became known that the companies "MTS" and Nokia unrolled the selected network LTE on production "UEC - Perm Motors". In the future the network can be quickly scaled to the standard 5G.

As it was explained, the wireless network selected (private) intended for the solution of crucial technology tasks integrates different elements of a production ecosystem and IT infrastructure of the enterprise in the general closed circuit.

Implementation of a pilot project will allow to estimate efficiency of technologies for implementation of digital transformation of the enterprise, acceleration of automation and robotization of production processes and also will open other opportunities for the choice of solutions in the field of remote and independent operation, analytics and security.

The network is unrolled based on the solution of Nokia of an industrial class for selected (private) of wireless networks, including the equipment and the software for a core of network, base stations of LTE, the server of group communication of PTT/PTV, routers with the built-in LTE modem and wearable terminals. The technology includes functions of an operative group communication (Push-to-Talk, Push-to-Video), data transmissions about functioning of different elements of production, exact determination of finding of objects in the territory of the enterprise and others.

At the beginning of 2020 MTS showed work of the zone Private 5G at the KAMAZ plant, and in August, 2020 MTS and Sibur agreed about creation of Private 5G network in Perm Krai. The recent research which the Nokia company conducted together with ABI Research showed that more than 90% of industrial managers consider the possibility of implementation of private wireless networks 4.9G/5G. Implementation of this pilot project will help Perm Motors to make a choice of a technology platform for further improvement of production processes that will affect reduction of a cycle of production of engines and also will provide reliability of a production infrastructure and information security.
