2025: Building a Communications Infrastructure
Russian Infrastructure Company (RIC JSC) has created a communication infrastructure on the territory of UMMC-Arena in the city of Yekaterinburg. RIC announced this on April 15, 2025.
As a technical solution for signal amplification, the mobile communications company designed and built a distributed antenna-feeder system (DAS) with hardware connected by cable routes, for which several tens of kilometers of cable were laid. This mobile amplification system is designed to provide stable coverage throughout the multifunctional ice arena in the networks of all 5 cellular operators present in this region, which will allow subscribers to get high-quality seamless cellular communication and high-speed mobile Internet anywhere in the arena.
UMMC-Arena is a multifunctional ice arena; as of April 2025, it is the largest indoor sports facility in the Urals. The total area of the structure is 112,000 m ², the capacity exceeds 12,500 fans at a sports match and up to 15,000 guests at concert programs.
The tendency to form demand for difficult (both in engineering and technical, and in administrative and managerial terms) solutions has become obvious: now everyone needs mobile Internet, always and everywhere and difficult-organized spaces, such as the UMMC ice arena, set the tone for these changes. We are pleased to announce the successful completion of work on this landmark project, as a result of which subscribers of all operators received a new level of technological comfort, said Alexander Chub, General Director of JSC "RIC."

At the new ice facility, we have installed equipment that can simultaneously serve tens of thousands of subscribers. On February twenty-eight, at the game of the Youth Hockey League "Auto" - "Tolpar," the Urals with a SIM card Motive were the first to evaluate the quality of mobile communications at the UMMC-Arena. Thus, the total time of voice calls during the match was more than 3,000 minutes, and the amount of transmitted data on the Motive network was over 150 GB, which is approximately equal to the volume of 500 thousand photos, "said Andrey Zolotarev, commercial director of the mobile operator Motive. |
