2025: EAM Asset Management EAM system Implementation

On May 26, 2025, Desnol, the Russian center for practical expertise in digital transformation of MR, announced the completion of a project to automate asset management processes using the KORP 1S:TOIR at the Udokanskaya Copper mining and metallurgical plant. This project was the first step towards building a comprehensive digital management system for the cost of ownership of the enterprise's production assets to ensure optimal costs and uninterrupted operation of the mining and metallurgical plant equipment in extreme climatic and geological conditions.

As reported, Udokan Copper is a strategically important enterprise in the mining and metallurgical industry, created in 2008 to develop the largest Udokan copper deposit in Russia with a resource potential of over 26 million tons of copper (according to the international JORC classification). The construction of a modern mining and metallurgical plant for the extraction and processing of copper ore started in 2019. The project is being implemented within the Territory of Advanced Development "Transbaikalia."

The project of automation of maintenance and repair processes (MR) of equipment was carried out in parallel with the construction of additional facilities of the plant, which made it possible to immediately include all employees and newly introduced assets of the enterprise in a single information loop. Within the framework of the Desnol project, he took into account the specifics of the continuous production cycle of the mining and metallurgical plant, as well as the key features of the operation of equipment in the Far North. In these conditions, as well as taking into account the elongated transport logistics (the company uses mainly railway transport), it is necessary to plan the timely supply of spare parts as accurately as possible in order to avoid the increase in the cost of delivering materials by air, reduce the cost of purchasing equipment and ensure the uninterrupted operation of the mining and metallurgical enterprise. A high-quality system for accounting for downtime and causes of malfunctions, key performance indicators (such as CTG and MTBF) with reference to objective to data equipment operating time and condition is also required.

To implement these tasks, it was necessary to create a single IT-landschaft for managing production assets, which would collect in a single circuit all the necessary information information about the composition and classification of equipment, technical characteristics, material support and passport data. As a result of the project, a single database equipment was created, including 77.5 thousand potential repair objects and 3.9 thousand process charts. A complete cycle of repair work has been automated - from submitting an application to signing certificates of work performed. Economic impact of implementation appeared already in the first months of operation: the time for preparing budget data decreased by 80%, the labor costs of searching for information about equipment decreased by 25%, and the speed of processing repair applications increased by 54%.

I have always treated 1S:TOIR not as a MRO management system, but as a production asset cost management system. It is important for any owner, shareholder or CEO to understand the efficiency of the enterprise and see a transparent picture of the cost part that affects the marginality of the business. When we see the frequency of planned and preventive measures and bottlenecks in the operation of equipment, understand how to minimize or prevent the risks of failure, we can more effectively manage the cost part and ensure the uninterrupted operation of the mining and metallurgical enterprise in conditions of extreme climate and related difficulties in the prompt supply and optimization of costs for the purchase of spare parts.

The KORP 1S:TOIR system was adapted to the specifics of the mining and metallurgical production of Udokan Copper. For critical equipment, including crushing plants, PSI mills and flotation machines, Desnol specialists have developed a set of customized solutions. Unique algorithms for predicting breakdowns of rapidly wearing components (liners, bearings and screen screens) were introduced, which made it possible to increase the accuracy of replacement planning. Special attention was paid to taking into account the aggressive impact of copper concentrate on the equipment.

The project provided for comprehensive integration with corporate systems of the enterprise to create a single information space for asset management. With the 1C:ERP system. QoS organized the exchange of data on planned material requirements for repairs, actual costs for M&R and services of contractors, which made it possible to automate the formation of internal consumption orders and Planned Demand documents.

Integration with the 1S:ZUP provided up-to-date data on repair workers, including time, labor, and personnel skills, with synchronized staffing and shift schedules. In order to control vehicles by means of integration of the KORP 1S:TOIR with the 1S:UAT, the self-propelled equipment operating time is recorded, its technical condition is monitored and maintenance is automatically planned based on inter-service intervals, which is especially important for servicing mine dump trucks and bulldozers.

Integration of KORP 1S:TOIR with APiKhD was of key importance, ensuring the transfer of actual indicators of equipment operation, accounting for downtime and operating parameters. This made it possible to automate the creation of repair orders in case of accidents and update the WEP schedules taking into account real production conditions and processes.

The project of automation of MRO management processes was the first step towards the construction of an integrated digital management system for the cost of ownership of production assets of the enterprise to ensure optimal costs and uninterrupted operation of the equipment of the mining and metallurgical plant (MMC) in extreme climatic and geological conditions. In total, the project includes five stages, designed for five years of implementation.

In the future, Udokanskaya Copper plans to create a single asset management ecosystem, which will also include data from dispatching systems, metrological service and mobile applications to take into account operational indicators and data obtained as a result of equipment inspections. It is planned to launch the integration of the KORP 1S:TOIR with the occupational health and safety system and ACS GR. The project provides for the implementation of the RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) approach to control and ensure the reliability of critical equipment of the mining and processing complex. At the final stage of the entire project, it is planned to introduce artificial intelligence technologies for predictive analytics.
