As part of the reconstruction of the northernmost hydroelectric power station in the world, AiDiGreen has completely updated the telecommunications infrastructure and critical systems. This was reported by AiDiGreen on November 2, 2021.
Ust-Khantayskaya hydroelectric power station is used to provide energy to the Norilsk Mining and Metallurgical Plant, Dudinsky and Igarsky industrial districts, as well as settlements in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Implementing the reconstruction project, Norilsk Nickel and its subsidiary NTEK set the task of updating the telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring the positioning of personnel on the site, as well as the implementation of radio communications and video surveillance throughout the hydroelectric power station.
A comprehensive update was carried out on the data network on the territory of the enterprise, as well as backup systems and a failover cluster were implemented. All this made the telecommunications infrastructure of the Ust-Khantai hydroelectric station much more reliable and protected, which is very important for the facility that provides electricity to the enterprise and residents of the region.
The implementation of the personnel positioning system had a number of key tasks facing NTEK. This is an increase in labor efficiency and control over the performance of work at the hydroelectric power station. Reduction of non-compliance with safety requirements and risks of employees receiving herbs. The use of a zone positioning system inside the buildings made it possible to always determine the location of personnel and record the performance of work. An important fact when choosing a system was the presence of a developed reporting system that meets the requirements of industry regulatory documents. Also, the area positioning system readers have internal memory and autonomous power supply, which is very important in the event of a communication or power outage at the facility. This allows you to obtain data on the movement of personnel after the system is restored. The key link of the personnel positioning system is the IDG Storm software complex, which is located in the new NTEK failover cluster.
The creation of a failover cluster and a redundancy system allows you to increase the autonomy of the object and its infrastructure when working in difficult weather conditions in the region. Fault tolerance and redundancy of systems and information infrastructure, some of the most important parameters for the Ust-Khantai hydroelectric power station, since this depends on the successful generation of electricity for industrial consumers, socially significant facilities and residential infrastructure.
The radio communication system at the enterprise has also undergone modernization. AiDiGreen engineers have deployed a network of radio signal repeaters operating at 470 MHz. This made it possible to completely cover the entire underground part of the hydroelectric power station with a radio network and provide radio communication at a range of up to 1000 meters from the repeater. The importance of stable radio communication with personnel at an enterprise such as the Ust-Khantayskaya hydroelectric station is certainly also at the forefront, since when performing various production operations it allows you to significantly increase the speed of management. And if the beginning of the development of a possible dangerous situation is identified, immediately respond to it and reduce the risks of escalating the situation into a dangerous incident.
The HPP video surveillance system was also updated, which allows for operational visual control at the facility. Video surveillance solves a number of tasks: monitoring the condition of equipment in the equipment room, the availability of personal protective equipment for personnel and recording the actions performed by employees with equipment.
The introduction of all these solutions has increased the reliability of the Ust-Khantai hydroelectric station, and its operation is more predictable, safe and comfortable, which will ultimately affect the uninterrupted supply of electricity to all consumers.
