Content

On October 5, 2016 the Technoserv company announced project completion of implementation of an end-to-end system of monitoring of business and critical applications and IT infrastructures by request of VTB 24 bank. The project proceeded two years.

Project Tasks

In 2015 VTB 24 completed Transcreditbank integration. At a stage of integration there was obvious an impossibility to provide stability of work of the integrated IT landscape without improvement of the principles of management to them.

Before the credit and financial organization there was a problem of creation of an environment of complex monitoring of automated systems from the level of business processes to IT infrastructure level. For its solution VTB 24 held a competition and selected Technoserv as the contractor for creation and implementation of an end-to-end system of monitoring of bank, and HPE company by the supplier of software solutions. In the tender the company competed with I-Teco, but its price offer in 108.25 million did not pass.

Integration of four offices in Moscow, 140 operating rooms of offices in Moscow area, 70 operational offices in regions and 700 operational offices of the second level over the country was coming. IT infrastructure is centralized in Moscow, in four DPCs on one technology platform and one DPC in lease. Total quantity of objects of monitoring ~ 5 thousand.

Project Progress

The first stage of the project conducts a research of each business process, its stages and communications with IT systems and IT infrastructure of bank:

  • patterns of distribution of loads of each of research objects are revealed,
  • the indicators characterizing work of business processes, automated systems and objects of IT infrastructure are defined.
  • as indicators are accepted as technical (availability, loading, response time), and operational indicators of processes (the volume of the issued credits, number of the processed requests, time of processing of requests at different stages etc.).
  • according to the results of analytical work for all objects of assessment "health models" are created, features of work of infrastructure and systems on integration joints when information from one system is transferred to another are considered.

During the second stage specialists Technoserv automated monitoring, developed methods of measurement, information representation to different categories of users (clients, partners and employees of the bank). The end-to-end system of monitoring switches on the block of reports and analytics of intellectual logic of detection of accidents.

Project Results

The monitoring system controls 10 main business processes, 5 business operations and 20 information systems VTB 24 providing them. The organizational technological solution covers business processes of relationship with private and corporate clients:

  • connected with sale of banking services (cash loans, complex service),
  • processes of remote service (telebank, bank client online).

Under control operational processes of bank — closing of trading day, information exchange with the external organizations (the regulator, departments, other participants of the banking market).

As a part of the objects controlled by a monitoring system IT infrastructure of VTB 24.

According to the results of the project the functionality is implemented:

  • quality evaluation of the services provided to clients of bank online;
  • measurement of indicators of business processes, significant for business, impact assessment of indicators of work of IT on them;
  • control of figures of merit of the services provided to business, visualization and control of dynamics of change of values of the selected indicators;
  • monitoring of work of the applied systems and integration scenarios within complex business processes;
  • joint work of adjacent divisions in the single console of events of IT on diagnostics and prevention of failures in work of the applied systems and business processes.

In terms of IT infrastructure and IT systems monitoring allows:

  • reveal 80% of incidents prior to the beginning of mass addresses;
  • reduce terms of the notification of service of operation about an emergency situation by 30%;
  • reduce time of elimination of incidents according to business and critical applications by 10%.

Results of system implementation of complex monitoring in business indicators using IT allow to estimate health of each of 10 business processes, key for us. We received the unique instrument of risk control and the fiducial indicators of business of VTB 24 which is absolutely innovation for the Russian banking market.

The project of monitoring in VTB 24 — one of the most intellectual projects of the last years. It is deeply submerged in specifics of work of VTB 24 and became possible only thanks to deep absorption and interest of business divisions and top management of bank in its results. The project is based on careful inspection and setup of dependences between IT infrastructure, information systems, IT services and business processes. Besides, the monitoring system binding to quality of the provided IT services from the point of view of end users (clients, partners and employees of the bank) on the basis of real and synthetic transactions is executed.

We are not going to be satisfied with what has already been achieved. Development of a system includes such tasks as accident prevention, influencing business, due to use of instruments of correlation analysis and the analysis of Big Data, upgrade of IT first of all where it will bring notable quality improvement of service to clients of bank, rendering individual support of loyalty to regular customers and also reducing costs for elimination of accidents and service of IT due to automation of transactions.
