VimpelCom begins construction of new DPC

Customers: PJSC VimpelCom

Contractors: NVision Group
Product: Project integration (Project management)

Project date: 2011/12  - 2013/01

The Nvision Group system integrator won the tender of JSC VimpelCom for delivery of diesel uninterruptible power supply units for the technical center which the operator will begin to build in Yaroslavl in December, 2011.

Tasks and responses

According to Oleg Allenov, the director of work with telecom operators of NVision Group, within the contract the company will perform a full range of works on design, delivery, installation, a commissioning and the subsequent service maintenance of a system of regular power supply of a data processing center of VimpelCom in Yaroslavl. The company developed the solution for ensuring regular power supply based on the diesel - dynamic uninterruptible power supply units of production of Piller company. The technology implemented by the producer of devices is economically more effective and modern in comparison with classical UPSes because it allows to reduce losses on electric power transmission from the transformer to IT loading, gives the chance to save not less than 25% of the areas under placement of a power equipment, provides significant economy on service due to the lack of need of acquisition and replacement of a complete battery set. Also this equipment has high resistance to overloads and falling of external voltage, Allenov noted.

Plans and expectations

VimpelCom is going to begin construction at the end of 2011 and to start the first module of the technical center in January, 2013. At an initial stage to Yaroslavl from Moscow test and developer platforms and also the noncritical systems which have the minimum impact on subscribers migrate. In the first year of functioning of the technical center the main and reserve data processing centers (DPC) will remain in Moscow. Since 2014 gradual transfer of main systems from Moscow to Yaroslavl is planned.
