At the end of May 2021, Voentelecom began supplying the first SIM cards with Russian encryption. The telecommunications operator implements this project together with IDX, which is responsible for developing services based on a trusted "Simki, such as a qualified electronic signature, auto-completion (stores personal data in a secure area and, with the consent of the user, uses it to fill out various forms, including bank and online stores), generating one-time passwords.
IDX CEO Svetlana Belova, in a conversation with RBC, noted that Voentelecom is the first operator to start the test, and was also the first to use a hardware security module on its network, bringing the services of its virtual mobile operator (MVNO) to the desired security class.

SIM cards with Russian cryptography, which are tested by Voentelecom, allows you to fully identify the user. SIM cards with encryption can later become mandatory with the development of 5G, but their only drawback is that it cannot be sold in ordinary communication stores and exported abroad.
As of the end of May 2021, it is planned to issue several hundred SIM cards. The experiment will last until the end of the year, and if successful, it can be not only extended, but also expanded. In June 2021, project participants plan to demonstrate to representatives of the Ministry of Digital Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade the services of remote identification, issuance of electronic signatures and signing of documents using it, operating on the Voentelecom network[1]
