Completion of the large assembly cycle of two antenna systems TNA-12M

Specialists of JSC "Special Design Bureau of the Moscow Energy Institute" (OKB MPEI, part of the holding "Russian Space Systems" of the State Corporation "Roscosmos") continue the installation of equipment for the Sakhalin route measuring point. The large-assembly cycle of two antenna TNA-12M systems has been completed, electrical installation and comprehensive commissioning have begun. This was reported to the RKS on December 27, 2023.

The Sakhalin highway measuring point will become part of the Vostochny cosmodrome's ground-based set of measurement, collection and processing tools. The station will carry out information support of launches of all types of spacecraft, reception and registration of telemetric information from them.

In OKB MPEI, which in the RKS holding acts as a functional center of competence for antenna systems, two modern three-band antenna TNA-12M systems have been developed for the Sakhalin point.

Design methods and algorithms, including those developed by our employees, ensured the achievement of a large total effective area of antenna systems and high values of their radio characteristics. Technical solutions make the 12-meter antenna system the only one in its class among Russian and foreign models,
said the general director of OKB MPEI Konstantin EMELYANOV.

Specialists of OKB MPEI also created modular software that allows you to remotely control the antenna system from any mission control center in Russia. The technical features of the TNA-12M also include high guidance accuracy under conditions of additional wind loads, reliable lightning protection and an effective anti-icing system that ensures the operation of antennas in any climatic conditions.

Start of creation of a route measuring point in Poronaysky district

Holding "Russian Space Systems" (RKS, part of the State Corporation "Roscosmos") creates a route measuring point in the Poronaysky district of Sakhalin Island. The object with antenna systems for various purposes will be part of the ground infrastructure of the Vostochny cosmodrome. Commissioning will expand Russia's capabilities to launch existing and promising launch vehicles from the cosmodrome, and will make spacecraft more reliable. This was reported to the RKS on July 27, 2023.

The Sakhalin measuring station as part of the ground control system is necessary for receiving, recording and transmitting telemetric information from launch vehicles (launch vehicles, booster units), as well as for controlling spacecraft.

Deputy General Director - General Designer of the RKS for Ground Systems and Complexes Maxim Shcherbakov: "The RKS holding companies are involved in the project. The holding enterprises - OKB MPEI, NPO IT - have already manufactured and supplied antenna systems designed to receive telemetric information. A universal technical module is being erected to accommodate the main target systems and complexes of the measuring point. "

In 2012-2016, the companies of the RKS holding created and put into operation a complex of measurement, collection and processing of information, which is located at the Vostochny cosmodrome itself. In the same years, the Eastern Command and Measuring Point (KIP) was built as part of the complex in the city of Tsiolkovsky. It is one of the high-tech command and measuring points of the ground-based automated spacecraft control complex in Russia.

2017: Commissioning of all Eastern VKIP systems

Holding "Russian Space Systems" (RKS, part of the State Corporation "ROSCOSMOS") completed by the fall of 2017 the commissioning and debugging of all systems and equipment of the Eastern Command and Measurement Point (VKIP) as part of a complex of measuring, collection and processing information of the Russian Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region. During the launch of the Meteor-M meteorological satellite No. 2-1 scheduled for November 28, the VKIP equipment will be used to ensure the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle. After that, work will begin on the Eastern Instrumentation to include it in the control loop of Russian remote sensing devices (remote sensing devices).

During the launch of the launch vehicle, in addition to the standard means of the VKIP, additional equipment will also be involved - mobile measuring points (MIP) of land and sea-based, quantum-optical system "Sazhen" and hardware and software complexes for processing telemetric information.

Vladimir MOISEEV, Chief Designer of Integrated Information Support Systems of RKS: "Eastern Instrumentation is one of the most modern facilities of this kind in the world. During its creation, fundamentally new technologies and approaches were implemented that were worked out at other command and measuring points during the control of the orbital grouping of Russia, including the International Space Station (ISS), in the control loop of which VKIP has been working since the beginning of this year. The chief designers of space complexes are beginning to include VKIP in the control loops of Russian spacecraft. "

The construction of VKIP was carried out from 2012 to 2016, it is one of the most modern command and measuring points of the Ground Automated Control Complex (NAKU) of Russian spacecraft. It is the most compact of them, less resources are required for its operation, and its capabilities are higher than those of other Russian instruments, since at the same time VKIP solves the problems of controlling spacecraft, obtaining information from the DZZ satellites and the measuring complex of the cosmodrome.

Since February 2017, more than 800 ISS control sessions have been carried out with VKIP, including information relay sessions using a ground station. By the end of 2017, the object is planned to be included in the ground control loop of spacecraft of the Kanopus type, and from the spring of 2018 - the Resurs spacecraft.

In the near future, it is planned to transfer the ground control station of the Luch relay spacecraft from Khabarovsk, as well as the modernization of the Klen and Klen-R stations. After switching to round-the-clock operation, VKIP will conduct at least eight communication sessions with spacecraft every 24 hours.

Vostochny instrumentation as part of the Vostochny cosmodrome's set of measuring, collecting and processing information successfully completed the first launch from the new Russian launch site of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle and the Volga launch unit with the Lomonosov, Stork-2D spacecraft and SamSat-218 in April 2016. Over the past time since this event, a complex for receiving information from the remote control began to function on the VKIP, improvements were made to the command and measuring stations. New jobs have been created in the region - the VKIP staff has been increased, 38 employees have been hired for the year.
