In early June 2021, Walmart released a new application for its employees and decided to give everyone a new Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro smartphone for its use. The normal price of this phone is $499.
By the end of 2021, the retailer plans to supply almost half of its staff in the United States, with 740,000 employees, with a free telephone for personal and professional use. Walmart will also provide employees with a case and plan to protect the phone.
Walmart said that primarily the smartphone is designed to use the new application offered by the company to employees, Me @ Walmart. During the press release, company representatives explained that this application should "simplify everyday tasks, serve our customers and plan life outside of work."
The application summarizes a scheduler, shift monitor and personal assistant with voice control for work, which "saves employees time, since in a difficult situation they will be able to ask the application and quickly find products or get an answer to a question of interest to the client."
Walmart claims that it will not have access to personal data on the phone, and employees will be able to use the application only while working. Earlier, Walmart suggested that several employees use one smartphone assistant owned by the company, which caused tension between employees. Walmart reports that the reaction of the first trial with personal phones was "good."
As retail continues to develop rapidly, it is more important than ever to provide our employees with the tools and technologies necessary to achieve success, the company said.[1] |
