On March 23, 2016 the Oracle company announced an implementation project of the hardware and software system Oracle Big Data Appliance and the Oracle Enterprise R development environment in Wargaming Oracle and Wargaming company[1].

Project Tasks

The Wargaming company works in the field of creation and support of the multi-user online games devoted to an era of World War II. It is Wargaming business. And that games did not become boring, developers should surprise and please regularly the player and is irreplaceable in this question of the analyst of data.

The first 15 years of work the staff of the company tried to derive some benefit from a part of data, loading information into the tables Excel.

In 2014 Craig Fryar to create from scratch department of a business intelligence came to the company. The first step - transition from handicraft methods to technology which allowed to decrypt and process the available data quicker and more effectively.

The studio wanted to focus not on service of technical infrastructure, and on the primary activity – creation of games. Having seen demonstration of opportunities of the hardware and software system Oracle Big Data Appliance, Frayar drew a conclusion on the probability of short terms of implementation at that level of integration which provides this complex.

Project Progress

Frayar and his command left "data in plates" and accumulated experience in problem solving with design, automation of the reporting for the management, expansion of the user base and sales increase.

Project Results

The technology of the analysis began to prove the efficiency right after implementation. The department of a business intelligence developed a series of the algorithms intended for the analysis of how the new player becomes the paid user.

Prior to use Oracle Big Data Appliance the company to little purpose spent half a year, analyzing data by means of normal technologies and only one algorithm. Then the algorithm was translated into programming language R. Using technology Oracle R Enterprise and Oracle Big Data Appliance in three minutes analysts received the first result and not on one, and on four algorithmic models.

The command also executed a number of marketing projects, in particular, personalizing the addresses to the player depending on his style of a game, the involvement and other features of behavior. In one of regions personalisation of messages to users increased a deduction percentage in a game and raised revenue by 62%.
