Rostelecom has completely transferred its data centers to Russian equipment. The president of the telecommunications company Mikhail Oseevsky spoke about this on April 10, 2024.
Yadro, with which we have passed the hardest, I would say - bloody - the way to replace servers in our data centers over the past year at the cost of errors, stresses, round-the-clock work. But this activity allowed us to 100% abandon imported equipment that is not sold to us, and for obvious reasons we ourselves do not want to buy, - said the head of Rostelecom at one of the forums (quoted by Interfax). |
Earlier, Rostelecom signed a forward contract with KNS Group (Yadro brand) for the development and production of GSM/base stations. LTE The agreement for a period until 2030 is divided into several stages, its cost is "tens of billions rubles."
According to Oseevsky, by April 2024, Rostelecom's company Damask steel"" successfully completed the initial stage of field testing of a prototype of the first domestic base station of GSM/LTE-1800 standards. 20 such stations were installed on the test segment of the commercial carrier network, tests demonstrated the required quality of the mobile voice connection and the availability of data services.
On April 10, 2024, Mikhail Oseevsky noted that in the field of data centers in Russia there are very serious problems with import substitution, therefore, the regulation of the centers is the zone that "requires additional attention and, perhaps, a new state policy." In this regard, the president of Rostelecom proposed to distribute the cost of connecting the data center to the power grids over the years, and not pay immediately.[1]
