In psoriatic arthritis, not only the joints, spine and tendons, but also the nail plates, intestines and visual organs are involved in the inflammatory process. PsA is a potentially disabling disease.
As a rule, the disease begins to develop at a young age in citizens under the age of 45. Men and women are equally affected by the disease, the disease significantly reduces the quality of life and their social adaptation due to damage to the musculoskeletal system and skin. In addition, the disease affects the development in patients of coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, arterial hypertension, obesity. According to 2020 data, the life expectancy of patients is lower compared to the population by 5-7 years.
Psoriatic arthritis lies at the junction of two specialties - dermatology and rheumatology. For greater treatment effectiveness, consultation with doctors of two profiles is needed. But it's not that easy to do it.
