What else can be printed on the 3D-printer

Rapid development of 3D technologies - printings activates entry into the market of 3D-printers not only for printing of products from plastic, photopolymers, metal powder and nylon, but also for printing of food or sneakers. About what else can be printed on the 3D-printer – on the example of participants of a federal accelerator of GenerationS from RVC[1].

The plastic helmets 3D-printed at the Swiss guardsmen

At the beginning of May, 2018 it became known that will change clothes of the Swiss guardsmen of the Pope for the plastic helmets 3D-printed. Read more here.

Ring, earrings or bracelets

The team of the graduate of GenerationS-2016 Alexey Labyrin developed the 3D-printer for printing of jewelry. In a basis – the selection laser fusing of metal powders thanks to which saving of time and labor costs is reached. the 3D-printer opens before jewelers new opportunities for modeling of parts with more complex geometry and also solves a problem of harmful working conditions. In a work progress specialists face serious professional risks. Working without glasses and masks, masters quite often earn a pulmonary disease and sight, and interaction with the chemical environment and tools on high turnovers often leads to serious injuries. For example, even for a refining of metals use quite dangerous chemical compound of nitric and hydrochloric acids – imperial vodka. One more advantage of the project – industrial automation. Now developers are engaged in creation of metal powders for 3D - printings which can become cheaper than foreign analogs in two or three times.

Large-size parts

The technology of printing of large-size materials on the 3D-printer is constantly improved. At the heart of a method of the production of large-size parts developed by a startup 3DPlasmaWelding the plasmatron, or the plasma generator for processing of materials lies. Plasma – the high-ionized gas thanks to which melting happens more intensively and a product is warmed better. 3DPlasmaWelding developers consider scope of application an avia - and mechanical engineering, metallurgy, power. The project continues the concept of Factory of the future: by production of products the Perm developers leave from traditional foundry and forging workshops. The technology reduces the term of start of new products in production and cost value of products up to 10 times, at the same time the printer prints procurements of any sizes and is not limited to a maximum of 1500*1500 mm as it was earlier. Using for building up a wire, but not metal powder, the plasma 3D-printer becomes cheaper laser and gradually begins to enter mass market.

Clothes and knitted products

While at factories continue to use the automatic knitting machines (AKM) working at the uniform principle of tying, invariable since the 16th century, new technologies do not stand still. the LAR-X 3D-printer is developed for printing of clothes and knitted products in order that any person could receive a ready thing of own design and the size simple clicking the start-up button. Using a method of manipulative tying, the intuitive computer interface and cloud storage system of designs, developers created the simple and available mechanism of creation of a thing directly at home. For this purpose it is enough to person to enter a template library, to create design or to purchase it, to expose the size, to load threads or yarn and in few hours to receive the product ready to assembly: sleeves, a back, before or a throat. Further developers are going to design the printer which will not demand assembly of finished products and will print products of smaller classes of tying.

Composite materials and high-melting thermoplastic

The project is devoted to development of a smart extruder of new generation for FDM 3D-printing. In the industry the extruder can be applied to production of products from composite materials or high-temperature engineering plastics. Besides, it can be used for fast printing of fastenings or parts which are heavy for creating by traditional methods, saving necessary strength characteristics and properties on thermal stability and chemical stability of a product. The command already has successfully working prototype, and in the nearest future it is going to put the first batch of extruders on the market.
