2024, according to experts, has become a period of active growth and development of the Russian BPM systems market, where import substitution, digital transformation and integration of various technologies and platforms to improve business efficiency were the key trends. The processes that started in 2023 continued, new trends manifested themselves, new technologies came and gained a foothold in the composition of VRM systems.

In 2024, import substitution requests from business entities changed. Companies are no longer just trying to transfer one-to-one processes in a hurry, but want to modernize and analyze bottlenecks in order to increase efficiency. Urgent import substitution projects were closed back in 2022-2023, but now the focus has shifted to systematic and long-term migrations, with an emphasis on a careful choice of technologies.

The importance of import substitution as such, according to a number of experts, will gradually weaken. The key will be the cost optimization factor.

Most of the customer companies have reached "digital maturity" and began to form an agenda for automation and implementation of BPM systems more consciously, with a focus on the needs of their business and high detail of requests. There is an increase in the volume and complexity of projects. If earlier BPM platforms were used mainly for small projects and individual classes of systems, now more and more requests are associated with the automation of complex non-standard processes.

Almost all experts interviewed by TAdviser note generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and AI-based tools such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation), predictive analytics, ACM (adaptive case management; adaptive process control system).

Already, many developers are integrating various GenAI tools into their solutions. Most experts believe that AI/ML technologies will be in the top for a long time. An understanding will gradually be formed where GenAI is cost-effective, and in these areas they will actively develop. Further training of AI/ML services will lead to the gradual transition of most processes related to information processing and decision-making to the sphere of responsibility of artificial intelligence. However, this is a distant development prospect.

There was also a trend towards adding "smart" assistants created on the basis of AI/ML to the software: AI assistants will participate in the design and help developers.

According to the information on projects contained in the TAdviser database, over the past 4 years, BPM systems have been most often implemented in four industries - in construction, in the field of information technology, as well as in financial companies and retailers. They account for 36.6% of all implemented projects known to TAdviser.

For 2021-2024, the TAdviser database was replenished with information about more than 2.4 thousand projects for the implementation of BPM systems.
