Warehouse Management System
Warehouse Management Systems
Automation of warehouse logistics remains one of the areas where development continues even in the current economic situation. Companies have new needs, increasing attention to process flexibility and cost control. There is a growing demand for replacing existing WMS systems. At the same time, migration from foreign systems is gradually losing momentum. Those who planned an "emergency" transition to a domestic product have already completed it. And at the same time, the market retains great potential, since all companies that use the warehouse in their business are potential users of WMS systems.
1 Russian WMS Market 2024-2025
As previously assumed, market participants face certain difficulties against the background of the economic situation. Many companies have postponed automation projects to 2026-2027, expecting a more stable macroeconomic environment, and the effect of pent-up demand is already affecting investment inflows. Large enterprises continue to be actively automated while new or less mature companies are appreciated, introducing MVP.
Demand is concentrated in those sectors of the economy where competition is high or there are external requirements of the state. The share of projects in the production sector remains, the number of WMS scaling projects is growing. There is also growing market interest and the number of related system implementation projects following the successful launch of WMS.
The market is affected by personnel shortages (both in IT and warehouse personnel), geopolitical uncertainty, new requirements for labeling, traceability, increased cybersecurity, and a generally complicated regulatory environment. The business strives to optimize costs, increase the stability of supply chains, faced with the need for an accelerated transition to domestic solutions, with an increase in the requirements for system flexibility, complexity of integrations, an increase in the load on IT departments, with an increase in the cost of renting warehouse premises, an increase in the cost of software and implementation work. IT companies are worried about an increase in the tax burden.
Logistics is becoming one of the key factors influencing loyalty. Business requests to WMS are shifted from the convenience of the storekeeper's internal work to tools that directly affect the client, providing accurate delivery deadlines (TMS integration), assembling orders without errors (reducing re-order), and online processing of returns become critical.
Among the key non-technological trends are the consolidation of market participants, the demand for expertise and full-cycle service, multi-channel (omnichannel sales), as well as new customer service standards.
Long-term market development expectations remain positive. Existing facilities are being modernized, online trading is actively developing, grocery retail retains expansion plans. The market is laying the foundation for the next wave of growth. The business is prized on robotization and automated solutions, which in turn will push WMS to grow.

₽ Largest suppliers of WMS systems
The total revenue for 2024 of the participants in the TAdviser rating of the largest suppliers in the Russian warehouse management systems (WMS) market exceeded ₽4,7 billion. For the first time this year, the rating of WMS vendors is highlighted separately.
At the request of market participants, two new metrics were introduced into the new rating: the number of warehouses in which WMS were introduced during the period under review, and the total area of these warehouses.
The revenue of the market leader, Axelot, for the first time exceeded ₽1 billion. And participating companies in the last two ratings added an average of 26%.

2 Technological development of Russian WMS systems
The need to integrate with the state system "Honest Sign" has a significant impact on the development of the market, along with the continued replacement of import solutions and the renewal of obsolete systems.
The market is experiencing a change in technological generations, which entails new management and organizational challenges. Artificial intelligence, robotization, intelligent logistics - all this ceases to be experimental approaches and gradually turns into a mandatory component of modern warehouse processes.
The requirements for the system are growing: the focus is on fine-tuning warehouse operations - working with zones, product categories and placement rules, ease of work with mobile software and the speed of shipping documentation, performance, total accounting and smart analytics. Increased regulatory pressure and market demands created a situation in which WMS essentially turns from a metering system into a circulatory system of the entire commodity operating cycle, ensuring legality, speed and uninterrupted operation. Russian companies are increasingly moving to complex WMS solutions with microservice architectures with open APIs, which are easier to integrate with external systems (ERP, MES, WCS, RCS, YMS, TMS, etc.), equipment, easier to integrate into different IT landscapes.
There is a departure from the expertise of operators: WMS can control the quality of shipment, automatically recognize the nomenclature, optimize the warehouse placement ("smart" slotting), make operational predictions on the load on the warehouse and production with a relatively short planning horizon.
New approaches to the implementation of WMS arise: the implementation of "quick solutions" with a implementation period of 3-4 weeks, work on basic business processes. Taking into account the current realities, the WMS system has an additional task: to use the existing warehouse resources to the maximum, preventing either downtime or overload. To optimize warehouse operations, different vendors use flexible rule systems, combinatorial algorithms, AI, etc.
Given the trends external to the market, there are no special breakthroughs in robotization in the very near future. Most enterprises in the industry still need to develop a basic level of automation. Robots are successfully used by grandees, while smaller enterprises are often of little interest even to pilots and tests in this direction, resources have become very expensive. At the same time, pilot projects in the field of robotization appear not only among leaders, but still at the regional level, which means that technologies are becoming closer and clearer to a wide range of companies. Individual elements of robotization are introduced everywhere. The market may "mature" before robots in the next two to three years.
>3 TAdviser Statistics
For more than twenty years, TAdviser has been collecting information about IT projects in various industries. During this time, a huge amount of data has been accumulated on the implementations of various solutions. In relation to WMS systems, the publication has collected a base of more than 2.2 thousand projects. Based on it, several ratings were prepared in the context of integrators and vendors of WMS systems, as well as the warehouse management solutions themselves.
Among integrators, Axelot remains the undisputed leader in the number of WMS system implementations. TAdviser is aware of 456 projects implemented by this company. EME holds the second line with 181 projects (which is 14 more since January 2025). In the first three "burst" "Solvo," "squeezing" IT Scan.
Among vendors in terms of the number of implementations ahead of all Axelot (+ 45 since January 2025), 1C and EME.
The database contains information about 191 products, most of all projects (over the entire observation period TAdviser) were implemented on the basis of the system. The Axelot WMS X5 top three also include solutions and. "1C:WMS Logistics. Warehouse Management " EME.WMS
Most often, WMS systems are implemented in the field of trade, logistics and distribution, and the food industry. The total share of implementations in these industries, according to TAdviser, is over 65%. In 2025, there is an increase in the number of implementations in the food industry and a small surge in the medical industry.
