37 million diseases per day - the largest outbreak in the world

China's top government health authority estimates that a surge in Covid-19 infects 37 million people a day, making the country's outbreak the largest in the world.

Up to 248 million people, or almost 18% of the population, are likely to have contracted the virus in the first 20 days of December 2022. If the data turns out to be accurate, the infection rate will surpass the previous daily record of 4 million set in January 2022.

The rapid elimination of Beijing Covid Zero restrictions has led to the unhindered spread of extremely contagious omicron variants among populations with low levels of natural immunity. The agency estimates that more than half of residents of Sichuan province in southwestern China and the capital Beijing are infected.

Strongest protests since 1989 over COVID-19 restrictions

In November 2022 China , protests in broke out with unprecedented force, spreading through major cities. On November 27, protests from large cities covered, Beijing Shanghai Wuhan, Nanjing, Urumqi (the capital of Xinjiang with a population of over 4 million people).

Geography is rapidly expanding and this is the strongest popular unrest in China since 1989. The last time there were anti-Japanese protests was in 2012 on a fairly minor issue about the dispute between China and Japan over the disputed islands. Then it was turned to an external threat, and in 2022 - entirely to domestic state policy.

There is a well-founded reason. COVID terror, which has no analogues in the world in terms of duration and scale. So harshly, as in China, no one in the world was harassed due to the coronavirus. The policy of zero tolerance for COVID is progressing in terms of ferocity and rigidity.

Here, not only self-isolation, social distance, the mandatory wearing of masks and gloves with many other attributes, which is familiar in European countries.

To this is added total tracking, mandatory testing, segregation of the population in three levels of danger, forced reservation inside houses, up to brewing doors. This practice extends more widely to a forced reservation in "sanitary/quarantine camps," similar more to prisons, where people are placed in capsules with total surveillance.

In 2020, China became the unconditional beneficiary of the COVID crisis, because it became the only major country that by the end of 2022 has a more significant accumulated growth since 2019 than the leading countries of the West.

  • Almost 90% of cases are asymptomatic, or with mild symptoms of ordinary seasonal ARVI.

  • The mortality rate is zero, at least according to official figures.

  • The entire Chinese population is totally and multiply vaccinated without any indulgences and soldarism (I want/do not want).

  • The zero tolerance policy has undermined the momentum of economic development, hitting domestic consumer demand hardest, almost completely destroying the culture, sports and entertainment industries.

  • The concept of focusing on domestic demand and the development of the middle class is destroyed through the collapse of the consumer market.

  • Social discontent is on the rise, peaking since 1989.

New restrictions in cities

In October 2022, in some Chinese cities, lockdowns and restrictive measures are again introduced in connection with the outbreak of the incidence of coronavirus COVID-19 after the celebration of the PRC Education Day. In Beijing and Shanghai, which earlier this year experienced long-term lockdowns, the incidence is low, but in two districts of Shanghai also announced the closure of cinemas and other entertainment places on October 10.

Wuhan isolates 1 million residents in response to the beginning of the epidemic

All public transport was stopped and entertainment venues closed for three days after four asymptomatic cases were found in the area on July 26, 2022. Although so far the lockdown concerns only one area, this move is likely to raise concerns about the expansion of restrictions.

Attention is also focused on the southern manufacturing center of Shenzhen, where 4 new cases of the disease have been registered, and the total number of cases since July 19 has exceeded 150. The city has asked iPhone Foxconn the top 100 companies, including producer and oil producer Cnooc, to restrict operations, raising concerns about global supply chain disruptions.

In China, began to pay $1.5 thousand people with a positive test for coronavirus

Although at first glance this may seem like an astronomical amount that the city can spend on just one test for COVID-19, in Harbin from November 29 to December 5, less than 10 cases per day were constantly detected.

On December 5, seven new cases of coronavirus were registered in the city. However, these individuals are likely not to receive a cash reward as they were detained in routine testing and contact tracing.

In China's attempt to minimize any new COVID-19 infections, small-scale outbreaks of COVID cases in southwestern Yunnan province in April 2021 were met with aggressive mass testing measures and immediate blockages across the city for 72 hours. On Halloween night, about 30,000 people were trapped in Shanghai Disneyland after one positive case of COVID-19 was detected there, unable to leave until all visitors and employees were tested.

Since December 5, China has been trying to suppress a new outbreak of dozens of cases in Inner Mongolia, as well as COVID-19 clusters in Beijing and Shanghai. According to statistics, the number of reported cases of COVID-19 remains low. According to the Chinese National Health Commission, 61 cases were detected in 31 provinces on December 5, bringing the number of active cases in the country to 1,060.[1]
