As of January 2025, there were about 15.7 million users of social networks in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is 75.7% of the total population. The growth compared to the previous year was 11.2%, or 1.6 million users. Such data are provided in a DataReport study, the results of which TAdviser got acquainted with in mid-May 2025.
Men make up more than half of social network users in Kazakhstan - 55.8%, while the share of women is at the level of 44.2%. As of the beginning of 2025, the most popular social platform in the republic in terms of the number of active users is TikTok with 15.7 million subscribers aged 18 and over. In second place is Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist organization; activities in the Russian Federation are prohibited) with 12.4 million users. Closes the top three Facebook (also owned by Meta; service prohibited in the Russian Federation) with an indicator of 2.6 million. The top five include LinkedIn with 1.7 million participants in Kazakhstan at the beginning of 2025 and Snapchat with 885 thousand users.
Pinterest generates the most traffic in Kazakhstan: this platform accounts for 35.96% of web traffic arriving on third-party sites through clicks or clicks on links published on the social network. The pandemic has made changes to work and training processes, making remote work and online learning more common. This increased the amount of time spent online for professional and educational purposes: email, dating, communication, blogging, courses, as well as business on the Internet.
In addition, users spend a lot of time in plentiful applications. The leaders of free downloads at the time of the study were the following categories: Games, Entertainment, Communication, Navigation, Social, Photo & Video, Finance. Among paid tools, the Games category prevails.
