2024:3% increase in taxi passengers to 2.82 million
The number of passengers using taxi services in Belarus in 2024 increased by 3% compared to 2023 and amounted to 2.82 million people against 2.75 million people a year earlier. The increase in the number of consumers of services ensured an increase in the urban population and the active development of inbound tourism in the republic. This is evidenced by data from the analytical company BusinesStat, released in September 2025.
For the five-year period from 2020 to 2024, the total increase in the number of taxi passengers in the country was 17%. The basic indicator of 2020 was at the level of 2.37 million people. In 2021, the number of taxi users increased by 8% to 2.55 million people, which became the most dynamic growth for the entire analyzed period.
The dynamics of the taxi market showed a gradual slowdown in growth after the peak 2021. In 2022, the increase in the number of passengers amounted to 4% to 2.66 million people. The next two years showed a stabilization of the pace at the level of 3% - in 2023 the number of users reached 2.75 million people, and in 2024 - 2.82 million people.
The main consumers of taxi services in Belarus are residents of cities and foreign tourists visiting the republic. The urbanization of the population and the growth of tourist flows create a stable base for the expansion of the passenger transportation market. The increase in the availability of taxi services is due to the improvement of the quality of Internet communication and the development of mobile applications for ordering transport.
In the field of passenger transportation in Belarus, an active process of legalizing the taxi market is underway. This process is associated with the development of aggregator platforms, their integration with the information systems of the tax authorities and an increase in the number of officially employed drivers. Digitalization of the industry contributes to increasing the transparency of the activities of carriers.[1]
