GDDR

GDDR (Graphics Double Data Rate is the double transmission rate of graphic data) is the type of memory of RAM developed for video cards and which is based on DDR technology. GDDR is urged to replace outdated VRAM (Video RAM). Four generations from GDDR2 to GDDR5 are at the moment developed. This type of memory is used in video cards for temporary preserving of information necessary for creation and data mapping on a display screen according to its description in the database. For example, GDDR is used to keep texture of the image, but not constantly to request it from the central system as on similar addresses much more time leaves. And as the main requirement imposed by consumers to video cards is the speed which should be rather high to manage to process the GPU commands, memory of GDDR, despite the relative high cost, firmly became current. Microchips of memory of GDDR usually locate in the form of letter "G" or a semicircle around the graphic processor and connect the bus which capacity depends on model of a payment and can reach 384 bits.
