ISO 21502 Project, Programme and Portfolio Management

In February, 2015 in Austria there took place the regular parallel meetings of the working groups of technical committee of ISO on standardization in the field of project management. His statement became a result of work of group on development of ISO 21502 Project, Programme and Portfolio Management. Announced this CNews in Project Practice company.

Work on ISO 21502 is conducted several years, the last meeting of the working group took place in London in March, 2014, told in the company.

The area of tasks of technical committee of ISO 258 also includes development of ISO standards 21503 of Governance of Projects, Programmes and Portfolios and ISO 21504 Guidance on Programme Management. Work on them will be continued in 2015.

Meetings of the working groups of committee of ISO on standardization in the field of project management take place regularly in the different cities of the world, bringing together experts from more than 30 countries of the world, including Russia (representatives of Sovnet and Project Practice).

ISO 21504: 2015 Guidance on portfolio management

ISO 21504: 2015 GUIDANCE ON PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT – the Control directive a project portfolio it is developed by technical committee ISO/TC 258 on standardization in the field of project management. On the account of committee of already 2 published standards on project management: ISO 21500:2012 Guidance on project management and ISO 21502 Project, Programme and Portfolio Management

The difference between ISO 21500 and ISO 21504 consists that in the last processes and also corresponding input yielded and results are not described (unlike other national and international standards on project management). The main contents of the new standard are the terms and determinations, premises necessary for management and the management of project portfolios.

The standard can ISO 21504 can be used not only mainly practicing specialists in project management (as in ISO 21500), but also the upper managers and Top managers responsible for implementation of organizational strategy and business planning; Key persons responsible for selection, statement and guide of projects, programs and project portfolios; Working teams and persons responsible for implementation and project management and programs; Project managers and programs and other project participants.
