2019: The Nigerian authorities closed oppositional media
Licenses lost the African independent television (AIT) and radio Ray Power FM.
It is said in the statement of the National broadcasting commission that these media "published the seditious, separating materials and also were engaged in antigovernmental promotion". They will be left without air "to the further notification".
Both media belong to the magnate Reymond Docpesi who is also a member of the oppositional People's Democratic Party. In 1994 he founded one of the first private radio stations in the country – Ray Power FM, and in 1998 – AIT.
