2022: Ukraine has become the largest EPAM region in terms of the number of developers. The company announced the readiness of local offices for emergency situations

In 2021, the Ukrainian EPAM team became the company's largest in terms of the number of production specialists, taking over the palm from Belarus. This follows from the EPAM Q4 and full year 2021 financial statement published in February[1]. In 2021, the number of these specialists in Ukrainian offices reached 12,389 people, an increase of almost 36%. In Ukraine, EPAM is also the largest IT company, according to local ratings.

Production personnel account for about 90% of all EPAM employees. In 2021, in all the main locations of the company, its number increased, with the exception of Belarus, which a year earlier was the largest team with 9,638 production personnel. In 2021, this team was reduced to 9,416 people.

The Russian office is in third place in terms of the number of production employees in 2021 - 8,933 people with an increase of about 40%.

According to the Ukrainian website EPAM, the company in this country has offices in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkov, Dnipro, Vinnitsa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Odessa, Zaporozhye, Khmelnitsky, Chernivtsi, Nikolaev, as well as remote cooperation throughout Ukraine. And in early February 2022, the Ukrainian EPAM announced plans to open another office in Rivne. Some of these locations as of February 25 became "hot" points due to the Russian military operation.

EPAM was unable to promptly comment on TAdviser what was happening in the company's offices on February 24 and 25, when the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine gained momentum, and how this affected its work.

The Belarusian portal about IT Dev.by collects information about the plans of IT companies against the background of hostilities in Ukraine[2]. On February 24, the portal quoted two EPAM employees as saying that they did not know anything about the company's plans, one that "the company was planning/preparing an evacuation, we were waiting for information."

Jason Peterson, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of EPAM, also explained during the same conference call that the company has significantly increased the number of production personnel in regions outside Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, including India and Latin America.

2021: Epam bought a business center in Kyiv

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine at the end of July 2021 allowed Epam to buy a shopping and office center in Kyiv, located at: st. Korolenkovskaya, 4.

This building houses catering establishments, entertainment and recreational areas, as well as parking. How much Epam cost to acquire this complex is not specified.

The seller of the asset was SBI Group LLC. According to the YouControl service, SBI Group was created in 2017, its main activity is the organization of building construction. The authorized capital of the company is UAH 311.4 million, its founders are TRK Invest LLC (70%) and Service Trust LLC (30%).

Epam acquired a business center in Kyiv

Earlier, Epam bought the Clover Park business center in Belarus, which was built by the Israeli company Fishman Group. The final amount of the transaction was not disclosed, but initially in the documents published on the single portal of the financial market, it was about $18.9 million. These documents stated that Epam planned to conclude a sale and purchase agreement with Devinvest. The purchase of this business center at Epam was attributed to the expansion of the staff and, as a result, the need for new office space. Probably, for the same purpose, a shopping and office center in Kyiv was acquired.[4]

2020: The Ukrainian office of Epam became the first IT company in the country with a staff of 10 thousand people

By January 2021, the number of employees of the Ukrainian subsidiary Epam amounted to 10,300 people, which is the highest rate among IT companies in the country. This is evidenced by the rating of the DOU edition.

For six months, EPAM Ukraine hired about 2 thousand employees, showing the highest staff growth rates in the Ukrainian IT market.

The three Ukrainian IT companies with the largest number of personnel by January 2021 included SoftServe (7900 people) and GlobalLogic (5712), which in six months increased their staff by 500 and 900 people, respectively.

The rapid growth in SoftServe is explained by the recovery of customer business activity and a number of global factors that led to new customers in Ukrainian IT.

GlobalLogic explains that over the past six months by January 2021, growth has occurred both due to the start of projects with new clients and due to the expansion of many current projects.

For the first time, the Techiia holding (27th place) and the Jooble grocery company (47th place) were included in the rating. And Grid Dynamics Group took 23rd place.
