Parallels sells Odin company in Ingram Micro

On December 2, 2015 Parallels Holdings Limited announced agreement signature about sale of the business direction on development of the Odin Service Automation platform of Ingram Micro Inc company.

As assets Ingram Micro acquires the rights to appropriate technologies of management of cloud services, the intellectual property enshrined in patents and the Odin brand. Also passes about 500 employees whose most part is represented by developers of the Odin Service Automation platform to it. Transaction amount is not disclosed. Complete transfer of all assets under the agreement is expected at the end of 2015. Within that transaction Parallels saved at itself that part of business of Odin which was responsible for development of software platforms of Plesk and Virtuozzo. Then Virtuozzo became separate company.

Birger Steen, the CEO of Parallels group, noted:

- We are glad that our long cooperation with Ingram Micro reached a new important stage as it will provide huge advantages to clients, partners and the staff of Odin Service Automation. At the same time it gives us the chance to be focused on development of the solutions – leaders in the segments - under brands Parallels, Plesk and Virtuozzo.

At this time the company develops the software for hosting companies and the largest telecommunication operators of the world. Under this brand the company helps them to develop cloud services. Odin provides industry expertize, the directory of cloud applicaions and a full range of the software, including control of Web servers, server virtualization, the order of cloud services and automation of billing. Thanks to offices in 15 countries of the world, Odin supports more than 10,000 service providers, allowing them to provide applications and cloud services to more than 10 million companies of small and medium business.

Renaming of one of divisions of Parallels into Odin

In March, 2015 Parallels announced rebranding of the division which is responsible for cloud solutions and work with service providers. From this time, this direction of business will be called Odin while cross-platform business of the company will continue to function under the Parallels brand.

"Work under two absolutely different brands will allow us to service much better clients as they significantly differ from each other. Also we will be able quicker to react to market changes and to turn that potential production which two of our divisions have into the capital, - Birger Steen, the CEO of Parallels group notes. - Odin will continue to be focused at work with partners (and it is more than 10 thousand service providers worldwide) and to help to develop their business using cloud services. The second direction, Parallels, will continue to develop the most convenient cross-platform solutions for millions of users of Parallels Desktop for Mac, Parallels Access and other products".
