2020: International search

At the beginning of May, 2020 the Prosecutor General's Office of Germany issued the warrant for the arrest of Dmitry Badin who is accused of cyber attacks to the Bundestag. the 29-year-old Russian is put on the international wanted list.

According to the Suddeutsche Zeitung edition, in 2015 hackers sent to several German deputies e-mails - "baits" under the guise of messages from the UN. The malicious URL on which at run the virus automatically was established was enclosed in these letters.

According to law enforcement agencies of Germany, behind the attack there is a hacker Fancy Bear group (or APT28) into which Dmitry Badin entered. He, allegedly, played a key role in an attack to the Bundestag. Badin is accused of work as the agent of intelligence agencies and illegal data collection.

Cyber attack managed to be stopped only in 3 weeks after its beginning. During this time hackers got access to network of the Bundestag from more than 5.6 thousand computers and about 12 thousand users — they downloaded not less than 16 Gbytes of data, including tens of e-mails of parliamentarians.

The edition writes that "you should not wait for fast process" as even if Badin will be delayed anywhere, it at first will be issued to the USA which allegedly already notified on it the German colleagues.

In 2018 the American Ministry of Justice  brought charges  to several  Russians (their names and photos are placed on an illustration above) including to Badin, under the articles connected with commission of cyber attacks. Department claims that all of them are a staff of GRU whose purpose was a data collection in Canada, the USA and Europe.

FBI looks for Badin because of an attack to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), also impute it manipulations during elections the USA in 2016.

Charges to participants of Fancy Bear were also brought by law enforcement agencies of Great Britain and Switzerland.[1]
