Straustrup Byyorn (dates. Bjarne Stroustrup) — the computer engineer, the programmer. It is known as the author of programming language C ++ which he called "Si with classes".

Biography, career

Straustrup was born and grew up in the city of Aarhus the second in value city in Denmark. Graduated from Aarhus University (Denmark, 1975) on mathematics and information science, defended the dissertation (Ph. D.) on information science in Cambridge (1979).

Bjarne Stroustrup received degree of the doctor of philosophy when he worked on designing of distributed system in computer laboratory of the Cambridge university (England). Member of college of Churchill.

In 1979 Straustrup, together with the wife and the daughter, moved to New Jersey to go to work to computer research center Bell Telephone Laboratories. Same year he gave birth to the son Nicholas.

Till 2002 headed department of researches in the field of large-scale programming in AT&T company (Computer Science Research Center of Bell Telephone Laboratories). Nowadays professor of the University of Texas А&М.

Bjarne Stroustrup developed language C ++.

Recently With ++ becomes the most widely used programming language which supports object-oriented programming. Straustrup became a pioneer in the field of use object-oriented and the general the technician in the field of creation of software applications where the efficiency is priority property, such as simulators, graphics, user interfaces, applied systems, systems for scientific calculations.

Scientific and public merits

The book Straustrupa "Programming language C ++" — one of the most widely readable books of the area which was translated into 19 languages. The following book, "Design and evolution of C ++", opened a lot of new in the description of programming languages: new ideas, ideals, problems. In addition to five books, Straustrup published more than one hundred academic and other popular articles.

Byyorn took active part in creation of the ANSI/ISO standard for C ++ and continues work on maintenance and review of the standard.

In 1990 "The reference guide on programming language C ++ with comments" ("The Annotated C ++ Reference Manual") received an award for unsurpassed skill in the field of technical documentation according to the Dr. Dobb's Journal magazine. According to the same magazine, in 1994 the book "Design and Evolution With ++" received an award of "Productivity Award" for the help to programmers in improvement of their source codes.

In 1993 it was awarded with a prize of Grace Murray Hopper "for its early works in the field of language C ++, based on its developments and entered the greatest influence to programming languages for all history of ADP equipment". Besides, Stroustrup is a member of the Texas academy of medicine, engineering and science (engl. Texas Academy of Medicine, Engineering, and Science). Bjarne Stroustrup was called the Fortune magazine magazine one of "twelve best young American scientists".

Bjarne Stroustrup was elected the member of National Academy of Engineering in the USA ("National Academy of Engineering") in 2004 for "creation of language C ++". As the first computer scientist, he was awarded ("William Procter Prize for Scientific Achievement from Sigma Xi") the American research community in 2005. He also received an award of computer community IEEE "for the beginning of development and commercialization of object-oriented technology of creation of programs and for the big changes made to business and the industry".
