Dmitry Viktorovich Livanov is the Russian statesman. The Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation since May 21, 2012.

Biography

Was born on February 15, 1967 in Moscow, Russia.

Education

1990 - graduated with honors from physical and chemical faculty of the Moscow institute of steel and alloys (MISIS) as "A physicist of metals".

1992 - completed postgraduate studies at MISIS. Defended the dissertation for a degree of Candidate of Physics and Mathematics on the subject "Heat Transport by the Interacting Electrons in Superconductors and Normal Metals"[1].

2003 - graduated from the Moscow state legal academy majoring in Law.

Scientific degree

Doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor.

1997 - defended the dissertation for a degree of the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences on the subject "Thermoelectric Effect and Heat Transport in the Electronic Systems with Interaction".

Career

1992 - 2000 - the research associate, the senior research associate of research laboratory of synthesis of MISIS; the associate professor at department of theoretical physics MISIS.

1997 - For 2000 - was the deputy vice rector of MISIS for scientific work.

2000 - March, 2004 - the vice rector for the international cooperation; professor of department of theoretical physics of MISIS (in combination).

Since April, 2004 - professor of department of metallurgical science of non-ferrous metals of MISIS (in combination).

May, 2004 - November, 2005 - the director of the department of the state scientific and technical and innovation policy of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

2005: Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation

November, 2005 - March, 2007 - the secretary of state - the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

2007: Rector of MISIS

Since April, 2007 - the rector of National University of Science and Technology of MISIS.

2012: Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation

Since May 21, 2012 - the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in Dmitry Medvedev's government.

On September 17, 2012 - carried out a round table with the management of the Ministry of Education and Science on which representatives of department told about the future reforms[2].

On September 19, 2012 the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation to Livanov issues the reprimand[3].

On October 27, 2012 - discussed the new law "About Education" at a meeting with bloggers in the mode of "the free microphone"[4].

2016: Dismissal from a post of the Minister of Education

On August 19, 2016 it was announced that Livanov will become the special representative of the President of Russia on trade and economic relations with Ukraine. At a meeting with Vladimir Putin Dmitry Medvedev noted that the government strengthens work on first-priority projects, including in the field of education.

"To realize those ideas which were formulated both new approaches, and new powers, and in some cases and new people are required", - the prime minister explained [5].

Medvedev suggested to appoint the minister the employee of Presidential Administration Olga Vasilyeva instead of Livanov and noted that Vasilyeva has a good record of service. It began professional activity as the teacher, worked in Academy of Sciences, has the experience of public service got in government office and Presidential Administration. "It seems to me, she is capable to implement these new tasks", - Medvedev emphasized.

Scientific activity

The author more than 50 scientific works (without theses of conferences), including in a foreign press; the textbook for universities "Physics of metals" (2006).

Subject of scientific works:

  • transport properties of metals;
  • the fluctuation phenomena in superconductors;
  • physical properties of the low-dimensional and amorphous metal systems.

Awards

2000 - it is awarded with the Gold medal of RAS for young scientists.

2011 - it is mentioned by the Award of the Government of the Russian Federation of 2011 in the field of education.

Marital Status

He is married, three children[1].
