2019: The announcement of the solution for creation of networks of industrial Internet of Things using transmission lines

On December 13, 2019 the Ruselectronics company announced development for creation of networks of industrial Internet of Things using transmission lines. The solution allows to develop quickly telecommunication networks in areas where there is no wire, satellite or cellular communication and to perform bilateral simultaneous data transmission.

According to the company, the solution created by Research institute of communication systems and managements of Ruselectronics holding can be used for transfer of voice information, video, telemetered and other informations, including for remote control of objects (for example, power), fixings of emergency situations, the organizations of video surveillance at power plants, gas pipelines and other power objects. The technology will allow to take preventive measures for accident prevention.

Development is based on technology of broad-band data transmission through transmission lines (BPL – Broadband over Power Lines). For transfer of telecommunication traffic the specialized BPL modems connected to the electric networks are used. The equipment works at the power transmission line from 0.4 to 35 kV.

For remote industrial facilities the organization of communication for lines of power supply – the optimal and sometimes only solution allowing to implement technology of industrial Internet of Things. Creation of data networks based on the power transmission line is much cheaper than laying of a fiber line of communication. Besides, the solution differs in simplicity and efficiency of implementation – on installation of a set "point-to-point" is required only one day. For December, 2019 specialists of Ruselectronics began creation of pilot zones for testing of technology for the benefit of the oil and gas structures and the companies working in the field of rail electric transport.
